Came to do a water change yesterday and had to remove a pile of ornaments including a fake tree root which is hollow and is where my adult male ancisterus spends most of his time. Couldn't see any fry nor eggs to put it on a towel.
A few hours later I picked I returned it to the tank to find 7-8 tiny black fry no more than 4mm laying on the towel. I turned to my fiance muttering "oh".
I touched one, it moved!
Took photos of three. They were each untangled from the towel and eventually clung to the top of my finger before I released them to the half-full tank where if they're not eaten by cichlids or tiger barbs they'll be considered even more lucky.
