Lucky Dip Cichlid Id

Yes lol I guess so. Gorgeous arnt they. Those bands are caused by stress. Mine gets them a lot at the moment due to my Ellioti. They may go once they settle down a bit. Mine was a fussy eater at first, but he is ok now. How are yours at eating?
I think it's my firemouth that's stressing them. He's chasing the other fish so I guess he's abit horny lol. They had abit of flake last night but weren't that interested. I put in a few bloodworms and they didn't want them. They are lively today, they were hiding alot last night. They have very blue faces and not any red at all on them like yours when it was small

 yes firemouths can be a little loud for some other fish.

Mine would only eat bloodworm at first, but I stopped feeding it to him for a while and new he eats prima, veg, prawn, cockles, muscles amd pretty much everything apart from cichlid gold.

Here is a pic of mine the day I got him:

Oh and a pic of my JD the day I got her so you can see what they look like (she was tiny, not much over an inch and a half):

My young one is about an inch and has the hallmarks of a few, it looks like a Dempsey mostly. Can't see it being a flowerhorn as pets at home don't sell them (unless it came in accidentally in a bag) they don't sell jack dempseys either. They sell terrors, Texas and acara cichlids. We will have to see I suppose but there was some good footage of it in my video. How big does a female firemouth have to be before she can breed ? Mine, which I assume is a girl as the dorsal is squared is only an inch and a half . My male is trying to court her but I can't see here being able to spawn yet ?

Just had another look at the video and its face does look like a young Texas to me. JD's have a more rounded face. Your Severums are very blue arnt they, they are nice though. Your female Firemouth will need to be around 3 inches before she will start breeding, but you will need a lot of luck when they do with all those other Cichlids in there. It may turn into a war zone...

When I get the 8 foot the severums and geos will go in there. My current tank will house the firemouths. If its a Texas then I will look to rehome it when it's older and I'm sure what it is exactly

The geophagus decided they were going to harrass my severums relentlessly so they have gone back to the shop. I want the severums to be happy. As I'm down to 1 angel I'm thinking replacing the geo's with a few friends for it. Good idea or not ?

I would not add more Angels with the current stocking. I think that you have Cichlids which may harrass them and nip their fins, especially if the Firemouths start breeding at some point. Look at getting some more bottom dwellers, pictus cats are great and very lively and possibly another Plec (depending on what species you have) if you can handle the poop.

I was pondering adding another angel as I had 2 but lost it's friend in my tank apocalypse last week. It's a fair size and takes no doo doo. It has actually latched onto the severums which is rather sweet, it's swimming up and down the glass with them in sync. The tank is much happier without the geos now. I don't want another plec because of the poop. I want some eye catching south American stunners with mild aggression levels that can go in my tank . Nothing run of the mill if you know what I mean. I'm going to have to think about it. Quality over quantity is what I'm thinking. My sevs will soon have a much bigger home to themselves, it will all be set up around them. Nothing that will get on their nerves, perhaps just have a severum tank and keep the other big tank for the maybe texas
