Lol think this is the 4th post this week on this stuff, it's just a type of bacteria realeased from the wood, it's quite common, sick it from the wood with a syphon, hoover up any other bits and after a couple of times it should go away. My 100litre has like 10 bits of wood in and I got it a few times, nothing to worry about.

it is! Lol its really common with new wood, it'll go eventually, just scrub/ suck it off

Just ordered a load of crypts, some more moss and a load of wood and some prime from aquaessentials, only went there because i saw SBS recommending it for plants, so i thought hey it cant hurt to look can it? OH it certainly hurt my bank balance! Spent £52 on 3 bits of sumatran roots, 2 lots of java moss, and a load of crypts and 100ml of prime

cant wait to get them!!

Got a load of wood and crypts in the post today

Wood a lot smaller than i expected, bit miffed really, but ive got the effect i want started, so ill just buy some more next payday

got all tghe new crypts in, theyre huge! didnt have time this morning to sort it all out properly so i just got all the rockwool off and plonked them in, gonna have a play around with everything tomorrow,, when ive got a few more hours to spare and post pics.

One question i have is, do you think i should take the fake tree ornament and the ocean rock out and put the moss on the wood i have now? Bought a clump of it with the wood and plants etc, but it looks rather weedy and brown for the £1.99 i paid for it, not a lot of it either. I know £2 doesnt seem like a lot but its not what i was expecting!

I'd take out the fake stuff. You'll get a better idea of where you want to go with the scape.

Yeah think i will do, i only got the ocean rock because the lfs said it was good for shrimp, and i got it free, and my tank looked really one levelled before i got the fake wood, if i take it all out though it means i have a lot more moss to play with!


On a nice note aswell, aquaessentials are sending me two more pots of moss because of the mixup with the oirder and the state of the one pot that was sent, on friday when i order more wood!

gonna have a play around with everything today, get everything planted up, then i can choose which wood i want on friday to fit in with everything will upload pics as soon as ive finished if i have time before work

getting really disheartened with this setup, i cant get it looking good at all, the wood keeps growing that minging layer of slime on it, and now theres a load of scum on the water that i cant get rid of.

eurgh gonna wait for my tax situation to be sorted out and then when i get all the tax back ill splash out and sort this out, possibly a new filter or powerhead, and some more wood. maybe an arcpod.


has anyone got any ideas for stock?
currently 7 DNR, but they could possibly go back in my 60L that i still have, id just need to buy new filter and possibly a heater for it, but im contemplating turning that into a fry tank and buying some cories again for this tank

Aww hun. The slimy stuff will go eventually. You're right though, it is gross

Not sure about stock - what colours did you have in mind?

Get some amano shrimp in there, they'll clean up the slime in no time. Best way to combat the surface scum is to have a decent amount of surface water movement.

yeah i know it will, just a bit annoying seeing it just grow over and over again!

I dont know about colours, i was thinking maybe red or yellow or orange, warm colours if you know what i mean.

And tom, amano shrimp are rather rare around here, never seen any anywhere.

yes I know what you mean. And are you wanting larger fish or smaller ones?

Smaller ones you could do some kind of small rasbora, or silvertips like I have, cherry barbs, if you wanted a bit larger you could go for something like serpaes or rosy tetras.

i dont know really, i love cockatoo cichlids, but i do like rosy barbs. not keen on serpae's


obviously i dont want something thats gonna bully the hell out of my DNR's, because theyre really happy now (so it seems)and sort of school together a lot of the time.

sorry i know thats not a lot of help! im just not sure where i want to go with this now!
