:S Hi,
Well you've almost scared me off starting a reef tank after reading all these posts (very quiet day at work).
But if I was stupid enough to try how would I cope with my tap water with a ph of 7.4?
Many thanks Tim :/

Do you want to make the water more acidic?

I think you may need to do a lot more research on marine tanks , i have been thinking about starting one myself and there is a lot to learn , as for your tap water you should not use it at all unless you have a R.O. unit fitted.

Acidic means lowering the pH, so in your case you do not want to make the pH more acidic but more alkeline to raise it. You really shouldnt be using tapwater anyways, Reverse Osmosis or Deionization units are what you should be using to make the water safe for marines.

My friend you have A LOT of research to do. Reefs are a million times more complex than a freshwater tank. You need to learn the basics of a freshwater tank first, then work you can work your way up to marine.

When you add the salt to your water the Ph rises anyway. Should use Reverse Osmosis water though. :good:
