Loud Filter

I've got to say I'm a little disapointed with Marineland. I have had some of their older Penguin filters for years and am running a Penguin Mini on the 10gal right now. I love it, quiet as a mouse.

Now, I just bought some new tanks, and with them newer Penguin filters, the 200. I can't believe how loud these things are. Its ridiculous, I mean, I'm not even sure I could sleep with these things running at night.

My girlfriend has the new Penguin 100, and that one is quiet, so I know its not all the new ones. Are all large filters like this noisy, or is it just the new larger penguin filters?

I have one in my tank and I sleep with it in my room. What way is it loud. I know if you don't have it at the right water level it makes lots of splashing noise.

Maybe it's just the 200's. I had one that was not being used for a while and when I plugged it back in, I swear it sounded like my house was being attacked by locusts!
