Ok, So ive got two tanks now and i'll admit . . . Im starting to get addicted!
Im slowly learning from my mistakes and from general reading! Slowly, but it is happening!
Every time i learn something new, or see something i like, im constantly rethinking my tank! Both of my tanks are currently house hold tanks, everyones having an input! Im looking for a tiny set up, so i can do it all my way! Im liking the look of these "potted" tanks with the one Betta in ther and i'd like to give it ago on the smallest scale possible!

Can someone tell me where i might be able to get a tiny (full) setup and what kinda price im gonna be looking at? Something worth doing mind you! Like i said, just for a nice potted tank for the one Betta. Just so i can try something new and progress in my fish knowledge! is ebay or an online shop gonna be worth ordering from?

Cheers!

personally the tinyest i would go for a betta only, is 3 gallons, makeing sure its filtered and heated.the whole setup at my lsf (3gallon,heater,filter)is priced at £20.

you should get an eclipse 3. I dont have one but they are only around $40 USD, and have almost everything

i would recomend the tetra aqua art 30

it comes with heater
great lighting
filtration
for £49.00

i have had one and it has been set up for about 2 months

its great!!!

the absolute smallest for a betta you can go is 1 USG. if you're house is warm, you can get a cheap critter keeper and keep him in there, that's what my shadow's in. it's about 2.5 gallons and it was rather cheap. i spent $9 US on a pentagon shaped tank for my other betta - it didn't come with anything though.

Maidenhead do a little Aquaone 320 (28 litres/6UK Gallons) for about £45. It comes with heater and filter with a built in light. Sounds a bit pricey but a lovely little set-up.

I know ASDA sell a small tank, with everything, even gravel and deco, about £20, it is far too big for a betta .

I know people who keep Betta,s in Beanie Baby Cubes!!!
If your a breeder and set up a betta barracks this is common practice in the serious betta keeping world, and is done so successfully.

Bettas don't really need lots of filtration. Water changes do fine to keep them healthy, and sometimes the currents can bother their long fins.

Correct!

Um... Since when is a tank too big for a betta? Please don't tell me "they like little spaces". People have kept bettas in things larger than 10 gallons alone very successfully. Cuts down on water changes, and gives them more space to swim and explore and there is nothing wrong with it. I'm sure unless its less than a us gallon it would be fine for a betta.

I'd personally keep them in a 5Gallon tank but people have had success with keeping them in smaller. Mine have 5G tanks ad they have plenty of swimming space.
I'd also recommend getting a filter but again a lot of people don't use them with no problems. If you do decide to get a filter you should be able to control the water flow so that it creates little or no current.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

i've never heard of a tank being "far too big" for a betta. nothing wrong with a big tank for them  .

what i try to say is, that tank is big enough, if u use it just for a betta, he will feel lonely in it, so far too big

I've just bought a fish r fun tank for £40 that had everything in it, it's only a 5G but that's ok for a betta, I almost got one of those azoo tanks but they didn't have a heater or lid and I thought it was a bit pricey for what you got!

i would say that its not worth forking out on ebay, go and get yourself a new one, it reduces the fassle for you and you know that it will be the first time its used, you know wot i mean, most now adays come fully equipped with everything you need, i brought a 60 Litre last week that came with pump , heater, conditioner ,cycle, artifical plants all for £55 so buying something smaller for your betta is ready worth the spend as its gunna be cheaper than £55. average £30 ,make sure you have everything you need as a lump sum buy.

on the question of the of the breeding pair i take it that you were talking about the beautiful angels you have, if you are then the guy in the shop might be just giving you bull in order to close a sale or he might be telling you the truth. either way i'm no expert on angels
(i'm sure someone will correct me if im wrong) but i've read and state read rather than tried, that to find a breeding pair of angels the idea is to put several into a tank and after a while, say theres 6, each fish will pair off which another to produce 3 pairs, these will be the breeding pairs. it might be that your supplier had already observed this, if so he should have advertized them as a breeding pair but if he didnt it more than likely that its bull, so good luck and have fun
