How many tanks do you own now Cazzie?

I only have one main tank and a 15L shrimp tank and I'm being told they are taking up too much room!!

I only have 5 running though... ;)
And I only have 1 actually running :p

Dunno what this guy did to this filter, but I can't even get the bloody thing open!

My 4+ went like that, unsure why. Do you want to save the bacteria or not? If not then use boiling water to try and soften the plastic up a bit. Or if you're like me, a large screwdriver usually does the trick

I'm assuming there's no bacteria. Tank looks like it's been empty for a while.

I don't even think I want to use this filter, but I should at least be able to clean it before I decide what to do with it (ie, sell it or keep it for the 15G I have in the garage). I shall try to screwdriver though, I did consider the use of the crow bar and a kettle of boiling water. I shall report back... :X

Sounds like you're going to be having fun

I say TetraTEC EX1200 :good: I shall be running 3 soon! :D

You were right - kettle of boiling water (minus 1 cup of tea's worth!) and a screwdriver. Media is alright - ceramic rings, sponge, threw the carbon out, impeller seems undamaged, absolute pig to get off though. I aint doing that every time I wanna clean it. Will see if some grease on the seal helps any. Still no indication of which size filter it is (ie, Interpet make 3 sizes: 150l/h, 250l/h and 350l/h).

There's also similar marks on the case, so I wonder if it's always been like that... :/

And I've messaged verminator :good: (crossing my fingers, he's in Coventry and I'll be there first weekend in Sept, so it would work out perfectly!) an APS would work too, the 1000l/h is only £40.

Is there no writing on the filter then? There is usually some kind of info on all filters.
Nope, nothing. Says "Interpet" on it a lot. No info about l/h though. Going to give it all a scrub in some hot water tomorrow probably and test it, and I'll have another look then, but as far as I could tell there was no indication. And for the life of my I can't find out if the different turnover filters are different sizes, cuz then at least I could make an educated guess... :dunno:

Or get it running on a tub and stick a 2 litre pop bottle under it and time it you could het a rough guess then

Yeah they are. The PF4 is huge!!!
it's an external, not an internal ;)

Can you take a pic of it? :)
All the externals look the same - literally! I get the impression it's the same canister but with different l/h pumps in it, similar to the Juwel internal filters.

that's a good idea... got a newly washed pop bottle too, so I'll do that tomorrow :good:
