Long fin Neon Tetras?

Humans seem to have the urge to change any creature that Mother Nature made, nevertheless its natural beauty.

Personally I hate all longfins, genetically changed and in fact all man made colorvariaties as well.

Whoops, I have Turquoise Discus, but they have been around forever. I do agree with you in principle.

Why do humans do this to a fish, I wouldn't buy them on principle. The more we buy this type of fish the more these idiots will breed them.
Au naturale is my basic bottom line. If it ain't a free swimming in the wild form then don't buy unless it's a species being bred to keep alive one that is otherwise now extinct in the wild.

The neon in the first post looks like a balloon neon with long fins. I wouldn't touch it or any other balloon fish.

Long finned fish aren't such an issue as long as the body is normal shaped. But balloon fish are not healthy.

The picture in the first post doesn't look deformed to me and here's why. Last year I inherited a small aquarium with five Neon Tetra's from disinterested Grandaughters. Last week I was down to the last two and one finally croaked leaving me The Last Survivor. The one that perished had been getting fatter and fatter for several weeks and as it ballooned to its most blobulous size the spine crinkled like the one in the picture in the first post. Severe bloat did that to both those fish , mine and the one in the picture. I'm sure of it having seen it with my own eyes.
