Log for the raising of my angel fishes surprise children

There's been a bit of hiccup the eggs appeared to have died so I tried to remove them only to find the wriggerlers on the under side of the leaf after I had removed the so I returned the leaf to the parents in the hopes they might keep taking care of them

Good for you that you noticed the fry! Are the parents showing any interest? If not, you can easily raise them alone in another tank.

The parents almost immediately began relocating the fry but because the leaf wasn't attach to anything it floated to the surface so attached some lead plant weights to it and set it next to were they were moving them and so far everything is going good

For anyone who's wondering the pair are in a heavily planted 55 gallon community tank housed along side 6 other angels 10 panda Cory's 3 black khuli loaches 4 platies 5 mollies a black skirt tetra and 20 rummynose tetra

Parents have moved the fry from the sword plant to a pennywort plant on the surface

I am interested. I never had luck raising the fry in a community tank. Your tank looks nice. Please let us know the progress and best of luck!

Good luck. My personal experience has been that the next stage is the most critical, when the young are no longer stuck to a surface the parents have a much harder time defending the young. In my tanks once the predation on the newly swimming fry starts its all over in a couple of hours, other fish start taking the young, and the parents cant keep the rest at bay, and may start eating their own young. My fish might be more aggressive than yours so it might work for you. Again good luck.

In my experience the parents move the fry around frequently. I would be watching them carefully now, and trying to keep the stress down in the tank. Nice to see them.

Well there's been a bit of a hiccup the have disappeared .either some daring tetra led a midnight raid or the fry are free swimming and decided to go every man for himself and scattered its likely the latter as the parents have been collecting fry from around the tank
