Llj's 8G... Yuma/zoanthid Garden

Well if you have already tried the 14 then the 20 has got to be worth a try - can't wait to see some photos.

Yeah, I'll probably get the bulb before I do the upgrade. So I will post pictures and do a final photo shoot of the 8g as it is a seamless tank. I more than likely keep this same thread too, as the tank is still technically the 8g and was born, last August. For me the age of the tank commences the day LR is placed into SW with circulation and light, the tank is just a space for it to dwell in.

Tank looks a perfect size also looks as though those 2 lengths of black plastic would slide off if they cause too much of a shadow?....Ah just realised that it is the hinge - so sack that idea!!

Actually, they do slide off, but you defeat then the purpose of the hinge. I think the hinge is a strong idea for the lid. Strong enough that I'd put up with a shadow if it wasn't too bad.

I'm getting excited about this. I want an elegance for this tank. And an open brain. I'll post what I'm going to do in a bit. About to drive home from work.

I finally got some good pictures of my grey ywg. Yep definitely not yellow.

But first Mr. Mandarin settling in. He loves mysis, pellets, and yes, pods.

The ywg with the tiger pistol, look at the size difference, you can see she's much, much larger than my previous ywg.

Thanks for looking. I told the lfs owner about my gramma, she's going to look for one for me so I can come see it. Who knows, I'm kinda not wanting one right now. :(

another update and another gentle nudge for me to start a marine adventure.

must.....resist.....can.....not.......................afford!

Do a pico, Zod. You're advanced enough in the hobby that you can start with a SW nano or pico. It really cuts down on initial cost.

Cuts down on in itial cost but does add to the over all when in a few months you get a 50 gallon and can squeeze that nano on a cabinet some else

Fish look great lljdma06 :good:

starting with something small will only lead to me wanting something large....I've already learnt that lesson in FW.

Ahahah. Look at you persuade everyone to the dark side! lol.

What causes that fish to be grey? SO strange lol. Your fish AND shrimp are much larger than mine. That shrimp is like 3X bigger than mine at least.

Is it not a wonderful place to be?

Either she's a female and they grey as they mature, or there is actually a grey morph of the species. I did a bit of research and have seen pictures of yellow mated pairs and grey mated pairs, so my inclination is that she's a color morph. Not sure why grey, though it does look rather striking.

That was, I think my problem initially with a shrimp goby. My tiger pistol was just so large. He was too much for a Yasha to handle and I think he spooked them. Then the watchman I had before was too small and while he got along with the pistol shrimp, I think the shrimp's natural habits got the better of him. He seals the tunnels at night and boy, do you need a big fish to break through some of the barriers he makes. This one has no problems with this. At least for now.

My shrimp always manages to open the hole back up. I just wait to feed until I see him poke out. They know when I am home, they can feel it from me walking on the floor and the dogs prancing about when I arrive. So they come out and get some food!

My royal gramma has lost all of his scaredycat behavior and comes out all the time now =) love it!
