Little Threads Of Poo... But From Where?

I have a 10 gal nano tank that has been up and running for almost 6 weeks now.
The live rock has been in for just over 5 weeks, and the cleaning crew have been in for 3. This consists of two dwarf hermits (who i am skeptical of their 'dwarf' status as they are small and blue but have orange claws? time will tell) and two snails that are about twice the size of a thumb nail, and are slower than most Volvo drivers.
I also have two small Duncan corals, one small Xenia and an orange plate coral. There were several zoas on the live rock who are all doing amazingly well but other than that there are no known tank inhabitants other than several small feather duster looking worms.
HOWEVER, there are several thin strings of poop up to 2 or 3cm long EVERY morning littering the bottom of the tank.
Where is it coming from? Its like its just appearing or something, looks like fish poop, its kind of a dusty grey brown and when you stir it up it disintegrates. It forms around the dead spots in the current and around the edges of the live rock, however never directly underneath anything notably alive. I haven't heard any clicking noises so I'm going to make the hopeful assumption that its no nasty shrimp either.

Any ideas would be great, its not a real problem, its just confusing.

Thanks -

Liz

Is it long and thin (like strands of hair)? If so it could be one of the corals expelling the symbiotic algae that live within it. This can be quite normal, especially when adjusting to new light conditions.

the poo is more than likely from your hermits.

my 30 gal nano was empty with live rock, 3 hermits, and 2 snails for about 6 weeks and i spotted my hermit going number 2. i found that my hermits poo in their shells and throw it out on the sand.

Maybe the hermits, its probably almost one mil or so in diamiter, doesnt look like its anything to do with my corals, they are all doing fine, and it seems like a huge amount for my little hermits. weird.
