My little sister's betta fish died the other day and she was heartbroken...for her Christmas present I got her a brand new tank (5.5 gallons) to put her boy in...but as he died, well there's no betta...he was just one from petsmart that she rescued, and as we all know, they aren't the healthiest/best fish to choose from (even though when you buy them you are rescuing them)

So since she gets so heartbroken when her fish die, we are going to get her one from a breeder so that they will be young, happy, beautiful, and healthy :D

These are the ones she is choosing from, though she is leaning towards the light blue one with blue speckles :)

Did you cycle the tank? If not, that needs done first, before you add fish!
P.S. - I prefer the black yellow

Theyre all beautiful! The speckled one is my favourite too.

Ilike the orange and black one too :D

And it is going to be a fish in cycle...she is prepared to do many, many water changes :) one of the most responsible 12 year olds evr!

The thing is, the fish will be coming prob in the next couple days if we win, so no time for a fish less cycle...I will, however give her my filter media from my 4 year old ten gallon :) and, like I said, lots and lots of large water changes...and I have a test kit, which I can do for her...I will help her through this all the way as I am way more experienced than her :)

Cycling with a betta? Large water changes or not, they're so sensitive. Shame to do it with any betta, let alone one imported from Thailand as a special gift.

Ok, just read you're using your own filter media - phew.
