Lighting Question

Just wondering how long to leave the lights on in the aquarium. I used to switch them on at noon and off again at about 10pm but the lfs said that was too long, so now I switch them on at 5pm - 10pm.

What do other folk do?

P.S. Forget to say - there are no real plants in the aquariuim - only artificial.

I keep mine on for 12 hours a day, I understand that 10 -12 hours is recomended for sufficiant plant growth.

8 to 12 hrs a day !

Oh.. if you have no real plants in ye tank, then it doesn't really matter how long you keep them on for .. though fish prefer it when the lights are out, so lesser the better in your case
