I'm a bit confused as to which lights I can use, I'm pretty sure my tank has T8's 24" 20W Tubes.
I'm sure there still standard bulbs, so a Power-Glo and an Aqua-Glo.
Can I get something a bit brighter/whiter?

I always notice that marine tanks look really bright white,
Would I be ok using an aquarium bulb?
If so what are my options?

Thanks

*EDIT*
Tank is a Fluval Roma 125

So is this for a marine or freshwater tank?

Assuming it is freshwater, just buy any new cool daylight bulb of the same diameter and wattage, if you want the tank to look "whiter". It doesn't have to be a bulb branded "for aquarium use", just a normal household one will work. Do keep in mind that if you water has a tinge, which is not uncommon, the bulb will not completely correct for that.

The tank is fresh water and is not planted, the water is usually very clear with very little tinge or off colouring, I would just like something which makes it very bright and clear, I hate any lights that aren't super white, most bulbs in my house are LED and or at least halogen style.

Cool daylight should be white enough for you then, but you might want to look at the colour of a few before you make your selection. Just as with LEDs and halogens, the fluorescent bulbs do some in many different colours.

But be careful, as tanks without enough décor (plants, for example) and with bright lights can make the fish very skittish, which can cause long term problems.

Plenty of places for them to go, tunnels, caves and under bridges,
Its all made up from large thick slate.

No opinion on the Marine bulbs or why they tanks always looks so well lit and white?

A lot of marine tanks use LED's or Halide units, they give off a shimmer due to the light source being small, and it also makes the water appear as though it has a higher clarity, they're in the region of about 10,000K too which is very white.

7500K should do you well if you want a white tube.
