Sorry to bring up a old post
I was just searching on here and I came across this, and I have got to say that mod just looks so good and best of all it looks so neat. I was looking to replace the 2 led’s in my D&D 24g as one of them has failed, and I can’t find any where that sells spares that plug in. So if you could possibly give me some more info on ware I could get the led strips and how to wire them into the lid I would be really grateful john, o

I got the LEDs off of fleabay.
Type in 'marine coral LEDs'

Though i have to say that one set seems to have burnt itself out. all LEDs have failed. The other string is fine though??

I would replace them but am in process of making room and funds for upgrading to a 2ft cube with sump.

therefore i'm selling all my tanks, most of the stock in the nano will be transferred to the new tank when its up and running.

you could try some cold cathodes.

Loads of those on ebay in the computer modifications section.

Quite like the idea of the cold cathodes as well , they might just plug into the tanks PCB so would not have to do any soldering re wiring ect.

if not they can easily be linked to a power supply. That way you can control their cycle.

The 6" ones would fit a treat.
