Do Bettas require a light cycle of a certain duration, or is lighting their tank merely determined by the aquarists personal schedule and preference?

Bettas normally need only 8-12 hours of light, but if you keep the light on too long that could cause algae.

Its dictated by the plants you have, Bettas naturally prefer lower light with tannins in the water.

Now I know some will disagree but this is an ideal Betta tank in regards to how many plants you need and the lighting level.

This is the actual light level in my tank

A Betta is quite happy with ambient light from the room.

Excellent! Thanks so much for this feedback and advice. I’ve learned so much in such a short time ! [emoji1317]

That looks really nice. I think I might get some duckweed or some more live plants for my betta's tank because the light is really bright.

Ash this is the same tank before it grew in.
