Lifting 6Ft X 2Ft X 2 Ft Tank

I think it's just nerve recking.
When I was waiting for my 5f tank, I was dreading it for a week and all types of thoughts crossed my mind.
I live in an apartment. We had to put it in the lift, tilted on one side. Two people were enough and it wasn't a massive issue considering I could lift one side, considand I am a small person and not very strong at all.  But this tank had no metal frames like my 4f. It was just glass, like the OP's tank, so it was quite lighter than I expected.

Fingers crossed for the OP it all goes well without incidents or accidents

Ok so good news and very bad news. I paid the courier like i said to do it all on his own with his friend. He arrived and was told that because i didn't tell him there was steps and because he is 5 hours late for his next job i will have to help. Even tho i told him there was steps.Ok so we got it into the house there was 3 of us. And it was pretty light. Here are some photos of it in mine.

Id be tempted to see if Autoglass can help with that.

I resealed it all today :) Now just have to wait and see if its water tight in 48 hours.I mite post in the project thread and keep this going :) Still a lot more to do.

That's great. How did you fix the broken part?

Used a lot of silicone. I was gonna buy normal fish tank sealant which was 4 pound for a huge gun tube the ones which you put into a gun and then use. But in the end i found some extra strong fish tank sealant which was the same price but was in a tiny tube which worked. I fileld the tank up half way to do a leak test and have had no leaks. Now I have just set up the sump and letting that cycle

I still need to make a brick wall for the tank to sit on. But cycling the sump while i wait for the wall to be built ( a few weeks )

will post some images of my sump set up now.

Thanks.
The best of luck with the tank and make sure you open a journal :)

I thought about using air bricks and an 18mm plywood sheet (from Wickes) to sit my ~181x43.5x38cm on, but my tank is in a first-floor flat and I was not keen on adding extra weight!

could i ask could some one share a link to the journal bit of the forum ? Can't seem to find it. I was living in a 1st floor flat and had a 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 and the floor started to creak so i saved up a bit and now got a 3 story house the first and second level's are on the ground ( the sedond floor is the back of the house and first floor is the front of the house. So now ive been nagging the wife and finnaly got a 6 x 2 x 2 ( the one above )

As in you can't find the forum section where you put tank journals? planted freshwater journals / marine aquarium journals

Was that not a absolute pain to lift?  My 4.25 x 2 x 2 was 108 kg the glass tank alone and a complete pain in the backside to lift and maneuver upstairs.

GOGO dry faster silicone !!

well it was 20 stone. The courier had to but it on a weighing scale be for he put it on the van ( to make sure he did not over load the van )We had to get a fork lift to lift it onto the van and then when it came to lifting it off we had a grown old man and a 17 year old kid and me -_-  I had the one end of the tank and they had the other end. We had to lift it up 3 steps and then we had 2 troll type of things to go under the tank which we used to get it to the house. And then we just lifted it up the steps and was in. The thing was i was lifting the top but the 2 people was pushing it not lifting the bottom so the bottom was dragging which made the tank crack because they would not lift it up the steps  to my hose. The tank is not that heavy when they got it in the house i had to turn it up side down by my self to silicone the bottom which was easy.
Here is a pic

You can see i had to turn it up side down which was easy.I have to say the tank is a lot lighter than i thought. Its  6 x 2 x 2 with 12 mm glass..
