I just figured i'd start this thread to give recognition to all the LFS's... People refer to them so much in here but we have no clue which one's they're talking about. I just want people to tell us what they're LFS's that they go to are and why they're special or good in any way to them!

Mine:

Fish Gallery at Arapahoe Rd. and I-25 in Englewood, Colorado, USA. The people there are very knowledgeable and they are very incredibly nice. They tell me the advice I need, they don't try to just sell me the most expensive product. Go Fish Gallery!!!!

Well, great topic!

I LOVE my lfs, LOOOVE them.

Fish Paradise,Alta Mesa Blvd. Ft.Worth Texas , it's family owned with a staff of three and the occasional family member helping out. They're incredibly nice, not money oriented ( I actually went in there to buy another filter the other day and they told me my filtration was sufficient and NOT to spend my money!)they're helpful, knowledgable, great stock, negotiable prices and...it's my favorite place to be!! (besides home) :D

I go to the House of Criters in Anchorage AK there okay with knowledge but I wan't to get a job and they are not hiring

"fin-ominal fish" in richmond is the only LFS in around vancouver that specializes in "show quality" bettas. the owner breeds bettas and they hold a monthly meeting of the bc betta association there as well. it's a bit out of the way but worth the trip. also, "pet boutique" in north vancouver if only because they are unlucky enough to be situated almost right across the street from a walmart but are still surviving ;) the fish guru there is really nice and quite knowing when it comes to bettas as well.

My idea for starting a list/map of all of the people in certain regions of the US and/or world did not gain a lot of momentum, but this thread is pretty much the idea I had, though I proposed a map of people in certain areas so they could get together with fish clubs. societies and swaps. Anywho, if this thread gains momentum, then that might be a viable option.

Rainbow Pets. Hoffman Estates, Il. Something-something Schamburg Road (not sure what). (847) 301-9600. They have pretty cheap fish and some pretty expensive oscars and cichlids. Also, they are pretty much the only people who'll take fish around here.

My Fave has to be joint

R+S Aquatics in Pool Meadow - Really Nice guy runs it on his own, always trys to give good advice about the fish he sells, Have only had 1 death from all the fish i have bought from him. Weather loach did not take the change from cold to tropicla very well, died the next day.

And my Other Fave has to Whiitaker Garden Centre Coleshill - World Of Water.
A little out of the way, But always good displays very knowledgable and freindly. Prices are excellents as they sell all there fish in bundles.
E.g 10 Gold Danios for £3.00 - 10 Mountain Clouds £3-4.00.

brill staff brill advice, could do with much morestock but i think they are workin on that buy havin a extention built on.... mint more fish spend more money

Well I have three of different quality. My favourite is the called Coral Cave and stocks just about every fish you want except any kind of Plec  . So for these I have to go to Scotdales who sepcalize in rare L-numbers and Oddballs and enjoy greatly over pricing them and not looking after them that well. The last one is so far away I hardly visit, however, it rates with the best. As Coral Cave they give you correct advice and will refuse to sell you a fish if you have the wrong set up. They stock bread and butter fish aswell as a few nice rare ones they get once and a while, they seem to specailize in everything from saltwater to coldwater ponds and they also keep their tanks and fish in tip top condition.

Fantastic Fins
Ann Arbor Rd. Livonia, MI

Ran by 2 friends (I think) and sometimes some of their other friends come help out. They are very nice people, if they just got fish in he will tell me to hold back on getting them and he can hold some, I tell him my fish I have in my tank and what my situation is now and he'll tell me go ahead and get new fish and then he will suggest some or he will say you should probably hold off on getting new ones and he gives me reasons. There tanks are all in great shape and he sells me happy, healthy fish everytime! :)

A place called THE FISH PLACE ... not to be confused with That Fish Place. It's located at 141 Robinson in N. Tonawanda, NY (right by Buffalo, NY). They have almost 300 super clean tanks. The staff really knows its stuff, but aren't affraid to tell you if they don't know the ans. to your question and go find someone that does. You will be hard pressed to find sickly or dead fish in ANY of the tanks. I haven't found a replacement for this store yet, and it's now a five hour drive for me (one way). IMO it's worth the trip. If you are ever in the Western NY area, or even visiting Niagria Falls, look them up, you will be impressed. Oh, did I mention the 2000 gal display tank?

I either go to Benson's in Saratoga or (sometimes) in Glens Falls. I also stop at Petsmart, but I try to get everything I can at Bensons. Sometimes I stop at a store in the mall but I'm, never buying fish from them, the tanks are so dirty.

There is a small pet shop in Humlebæk where I live that has a few tanks of very bread and butter fish. The tanks are always spotless though, and the woman that runs it knows enough about the very limited range they have there.

The place I visit most often is "Helsingør Dyrehandel", the pet shop in Helsingør, the nearest sizeable town to me. He has about 40 tanks in the shop which as well as the bread and butter, invariably have a few oddities - just this week I was looking at some Nothobranchius species in there, something you don't see often. In the cellar, he has a cichlid room which I nose around from time to time, but I'm not overly interested in them. The owner there is quite knowledgable, but very cichlid biased.

The largest fish shop in Denmark is Zoo City in Hvidovre. Usually a good number of oddities and even a few rareities, but the tanks are invariably filthy, the fish in poor health and the staff sullen and incompetent. Keep parrots and painted fish there as well.

Ditto for The Fish Place in N. Tonawanda. The staff is extremely helpfull and I've never seen any diseased or dead fish in any of their tanks. I would never go anywhere else. And yes, the display tank is quite impressive.

My fish store is 5 and 10 jacks petshop and petsmart. And sometimes other ones but i like the all
