Had a course from 4 to 6 this afternoon, leave off school at 3.15 so me and another girl rushed to our local lfs to get food for school rabbit.....
   bettas...lovely ones.. one was a very shimmery turq. colour looked like a crown tail to me...no money on me...friend dragged me out of shop...no room  thought I would only rescue sick ones now :S but I need that fish

Aww, I felt the urge to do that before. There was these 4 bettas sitting on a shelf in my local Petsmart, and they were all half dead. :( I felt so sorry that I couldnt take them.

I understand the feeling. I went into Walmart yesterday and was going to get a rescue betta, but then when I saw the beautiful guys that i saw I decided it was okay to get them. They actually didn't have any sick looking guys, and I know they haven't been there very long because there were NO males when I went in two or three days ago.

Had to go back in the lfs to get dog food today. Looked along the tanks thought there wasnt many bettas just 3, one veil tailed was swimming like a good one, the one I spotted yesterday was really flaring at the other fish and swimming about as if he owned the tank..Good I though I dont have to rescue him. Then I saw one in a tank with some of those little sharks and some silver fish, and he was so sad and the fish were chasing him and he had ripped fins. I just handed over £4.50 its no good trying to get them cheaper they wont there.

I managed to smuggle it in the house without hubby seeing. When it settles I will photo it not even sure what colour it is bless it is so tatty.

Aww bless Liz, its so hard to resist them when they look so sad :-(

Lets hope hubby doesn't notice him for a while ;)

...hark who's talking living in Lowestoft!!!

my closest lfs used to just sell cold water fish and pet food, now it also does tropical as well. :p

my nearest aquatic centre also sells lawn mowers :p

OK photos are terrible. You can see how split his tail is though and there are lots of little holes in his tail as if someone has bit chunks out. Would you put any meds or salt in or just leave him in clean water? I think he is just a veil tail and not sure of his colours as he is a bit sulky. Bless him...ps hubby hasnt noticed him yet. :good:

Doc Wellfish Aquarium Salt. ;)

I use that with all my bettas, sick or not. It truely does help with the immune system. :)

so do I! got some from a cheap shop on holiday last week...why didnt I buy more than one packet they were only 99p and they are lovely...in my new betts tank in other thread...sh! ps yesterdays rescue is in an old water filter jug!

:good: bless ..rescue betta is still in filter jug...going to call him Ken as its a Kenwood filter jug! and he has made a bubble nest  so am going to get him a new home but not going to rush it. He obviously prefers it in the jug to being bullied in that big tank!

:good: Ken looks much better. I have moved him into a bowl now. I dont like the bowls as they distort the fish, but until I can get to this one particular place I cant get a small tank. I am amazed how quickly his torn fins are healing.
