What kinds of ornaments do you Betta keepers have in your aquariums? My Veiltail Betta Phil has a fake petrified log at the bottom of his 5.5 gallon tank and also a floating log as well. He'enjoys both but he's really active. Sometimes he sleeps in either.

My Delta tail Miles has an ancient Pagoda style ornament with two holes in it. It's got an opening at the bottom and a hole at the top so he can swim in one hole and come out the other. I swear he LOVES this thing! He's in and out of it all the time or just hangs out inside the top with his nose peaking out.

My new Crowntail "Syd" also has the same Pagoda ornament as Miles and he loves it too. He either goes inside it or perches on top surveying his area. It also has ledges all around it for the fish to perch on and rest. So far two of my three fish recommend it! ;)

So what ornaments or hiding spots do your Bettas love?

Have you tried the betta bed leaf hammock? My old betta Titus was seriously obsessed with it! Titus is the fish in my profile picture.
My other betta Pence also liked something called Betta Grass, the leafy kind. It's a fake plant, it's low to the ground, and Pence would just burrow between the fake stems and stay there for hours.

I haven't got the Betta hammock but I bet Miles would like it. Phil is too hyper always swimming and hunting for bad guys...lol. Miles has flowing Delta fins and is slow and mellow and is laid back. Both their tanks have real floating plants for them to sleep in too.

I have so many ornaments that I don't use anymore because I prefer wood and rocks over fake stuff. The few ornaments that I do have in betta tanks are some silk fake plants because crumby LED lights don't grow real plants too well. I've also got some ceramic shrimp hides (think fake, colorful cholla wood pieces) in a few tanks and the kuhli loaches seem to favor them.

The most fake stuff I have is in my African cichlid tank, lots of fake plants and a few resin and ceramic ornaments. Other than that I have real wood, plants, rocks and leaves.

Mine love the floating logs. My older betta lays in a floating lotus bloom most of the day (fake) or on his leaf hammock. My other male has a mermaid that hangs in the glass holding a ring. He either sits on the ring or swims through the hoop. My females love tunnels, caves, and a tall tiki head. I always catch one swimming out of the tiki’s eyes.

I need to re-do the 5.5 gallon tank my blue veiltail is in. I will going with silk plants and more natural rock or wood hiding places and new substrate.

I use live plants and sometimes wood as ornaments, I am in the process of making floating logs for my bettas out of real wood, Plastic has no business in an aquarium because it breaks down over time and starts releasing chemicals.

Sid has 2 caves which he once in awhile will zoom through a cactus made by someone on a fish forum, floating log which he freakin loves with a passion, a hammock made of a Almond leaf which he also loves a piece of wood that he sits on occasionally a couple of silk plants and 4 live plants and some water lettuce which he seems to like quite a bit I think he may be munching on it actually. He really likes this stupid fake plant thing its pink and spiny but super soft he likes the water coming from the output on the filter pump goes under it and goes all through that plant it's cracks me up to watch him, he is easily entertained :fun:

floating log which he freakin loves with a passion,

This guy will happily attack anything that gets too close to his cave, including my fingers.

This is the bad A--

Please note I am not touching the glass

See how he uses the plants as cover?

Yes thats Grouch, my females are just as bad attacking my fingers.

Just make sure you wash your hands in water that's as hot as you can stand before putting it in your tank to handle the fish.

Bettas love interacting with their owners and are easy to train using food rewards.

Anyway, Bettas do not need fancy decorations thats eye candy for humans, Bettas need lots of plants including floating ones to be happy and maybe a floating log.

One last photo.
This is a natural way for a betta to sleep. Thats a bed of Riccia with an Indian almond leaf on top. I had to sneak up on him one night and use a flash.
