inspired me to look into keeping cold water fish,
do many other members here keep cold water fish?
there didn't seem to be many pictures.

The pics on the second page are pretty much full tank shots of the goldie tank. But I can get a larger one for you in a bit! I didnt post my other cold water tank becuase I though this was only for goldfish, but since you are asking about cold water fish I thought I might throw these pics! I hope you dont mind ~dean~? if you like I can take them back off, just say the word!

Hey Guppy-man

There are two types of dojo/weather loaches that people keep in aquariums. One grows to a max of about 12 inches and the other (spotted dojo) grows to about six inches. I'm not really sure which species I have, but based on the growth rates of my fish so far, I would say its the big one. As a result the fish will have to be moved when it puts on another couple of inches. At the present time it is about five inches, so it still has a bit of growing to do.

The small tank at the bottom is for my mbuna fry, its a home made job but it works fine.

They are ok, the Java fern has been in there for aaages and the fish chew on the leaves with algae on. The amazon swords, I put in there a couple of weeks ago, and they are fine.. the moss balls are just floating around breaking apart, but I dont care, I can always get more! ..they chewed up the java moss so I took that out as it was floating everywhere (it was tied to a rock).

awww tanks a lot, your little ranchu has a little shark fin

Hey lucky-fish,

Yeah when you look at the tank surface, it looks like a little orange shark moving up and down,
I have read that there should be no sign of a dorsal fin on ranchu goldfish and that its a sign of bad breeding. Also I have to say that I am quite suspect about the quality of this guy as he is nearly three years old and his body features ie. head has not changed in the slightest. I still think its a great fish though!!

Another question!! and I know that all fish are different! but,
How long does it take a fancy goldfish to mature?

appologies for my pictures dissapearing, the fish have 2 i realised my 3g tank was far to small so moved them to the outside pond the shubunkin is doing fine and has almost doubled in size, so im glad i moved him i will try get a photo of him when thier next fed

He was definatly and early cull, sometimes they show leftover dorsal fins from when they had them, his size is probably something to do with him not being 'the best' ranchu. He's a really cute little thang anyways.

I am sad to say but i lost my goldfish during our 3 day power outage. I was very upset

hmm.. still new to this fish photography dealie, but here's my male oranda. Got a female blue oranda, but no good pics of her yet. All the nice fins up pictures came out blurry :X
