As impressed as I am with the new signings, I am cautious, I was optomistic after last seasons signings too
I agree, Torres is unlikely to be challenging Drogba for the golden boot, if he manages 12-15 league goals he'll have done well. It took Drogba a year or 2 to realy settle in and start scoring, same with Henry, Ronaldo etc then there is all the pressure associated with being the club record transfer.
Voronin might well be the surprise of our season, a free transfer that nobody has heard of, but having seen last nights match, he looks pretty good. Nobody is expecting anything of him being an unknown freebie, so there is less pressure on him.
Babel is another one like Torres, will need a season or so to really get to grips over here, there are likely to be a few flashes of brilliance, but no consistancy.
I may have to eat my words, because Benayoun was looking pretty damn good yesterday too
I think it will be:
Man Utd - Were good last year
and have strengthened the squad
Chelsea - Poor last year, but reverting back to wingers and have a stronger squad
Liverpool - much better squad and with better finishers could push higher, but not likely.
Spurs - were good last year and have bought some good players
Arsenal - Henry is a massive loss and will need to rebuild, but could easily finish higher due to no real expectations or pressure.
No idea after 5th though.
I do think it will be a lot tighter at the top though, I don't expect there will be more then 20 points between the top 5.
SO cue a season with Spurs winning by 30 clear points, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea fighting to get into the Uefa cup places, Arsenal and Villa in the other champs league spots etc
