I don't know if this is the right place for my question but, I was thinking about getting a leopard catfish. Anything you can tell about them? I really don't know anything about them. I have a ten gallon tank with 5 platies and 4 mollies.

wot do u mean by leopard catfish??? cory, plec, catfish??? if u mean plec then it will be 2 big in the matter of months for that size tank if you mean cory's then you will need a group of 5 or more 2 make them happy and if u mean catfish as in syno's etc then again will probably outgrow your tank pretty quick but i could be wrong with that 1 but a little more info on wot type of catfish your thinking about would be much better :)

umm well, my friend has this fish and her uncle had this fish and it had babies so he gave the fish to her and he said ot was a leopard catfish. It eats all the fish food that floats to the bottom. I don't know anything about plecos, catfish and other stuff so I really don't knw what it is. hope that helps. sorry!

One of the Synodontids? Petricola (Pygmy Leopard Cat)?

I'm sorry but I have no idea so maybe I'll do some research first! Thanks anyway!

@HCpetraitis - If you could post a photo, I am sure that he could be correctly identified. Then it will be easy for the experts to give you some advice.... :good:

Alright I'll try! the only problem is it's not my catfish so it might take me a while to get the picture. Probably by Friday I could get one!

The top photo is Synodontis petricola, the Leopard syno.

And the bottom photo is the Leopard corydoras, Corydoras julii.

And for those of you who have a larger screen:
The left photo is Synodontis petricola, the Leopard syno.

And the right photo is the Leopard corydoras, Corydoras trilineatus.

Yes, Trilineatus. That picture is a trilineatus not a Julii. Julii's are much rarer and have a more spotty head than blobby head:

It's the Leopard coydora! That's it!!! Thank you!
They are passive and won't hurt anything. Make sure you have a lidded tank because they like to dart for air occasionally. They will eat anything that drops really, but its best to get pellets or wafers to supplement their diet. Scavenging only for food is detremental to their long term health.

They can live with anything that won't eat them really, don't grab them, they have very sharp, often poinsonous spines on their sides.

OK I'll probably get one or two. Do they grow really big though?
