As far as your username and password are concerned. If you remember your username, Tolak can look you up. We don't really allow double accounts, so I'd drop him a PM to get you squared away.

Second, no, you can't just use any LED. Many of the ones you see all the time don't have enough power to light anything but the most basic soft corals like maybe mushrooms. LOLOL

I have an LED tank, the biocube on my signature. It has 18 Rebel LEDs. Very strong stuff. Other people use Crees, which are another type of LED. One has a higher output than the other, but one can offer more variety with regard to color temperature.

How big is your tank?

I find that I'm growing corals well with my Rebel LEDs.

Still trying to sorce my own led lights. with a proper name haha. can i post links to ebay??? or is that not aloud?

That is quite a long tank to light with just LED's.

Lots of people do use them just as LLJ says - but you need the right ones.

If you are handy with a soldering iron you can easily assemble all that you would need but to get a similar effect to MH you are going to need quite a few of the high powered ones!

Thats 19cm by 19cm by 21cm. How much in led wattage do i need in leds. Im handy with soldering so thats not a problem.

That's nowhere near 120 litres, do you mean inches?

Yes sorry i ment inches!!! Getting confused my heads all over the place sorry. Think i may have found the led bulb i wana try. its a 10w led 10000K .

Sorry - I misread it - I thought it was 120cm long. I blame it on the :drink:

Well that makes it much more do-able!

If you are putting it together yourself it is easy - just get a driver that can cope with extra LEDs & if you find one isn't enough you can always add more at a later date.

You'll want a heatsink, a driver and a lens for that.

Thanks yeh got them sorted. Tho what lens would i need?

I found the lens for it. Another question 10w led is = to what wattage in halide? or 50w led to halide
