Hi guys,

eed to ask a uestion, just managed to get my hands oN a Rena 200 6ft tank, it holds 600Litres of water,
my question is would it be ok i my brand new apartment its on the 1st floor just worried about all the weight, iv ordered a rena auarium aswell so will be supported well.

just wat peoples opinions?

This topic appears to come up quite often and has raised some interesting views.

I think the best bit of advice that I have read if you have any concerns is to seek the advice of a builder or structural engineer as to if it is SAFE to put the weight on the floor and were would be the best place.

I have a 350 litre tank in the second floor of our split level flat but I did have it checked out first by a builder (a friend and he only recommended 2 places)

Regards onebto.

well the apartment is still being built so surely the site maager should be able to advice me shouldnt he?

Yeah he should. I would definitely go and have a chat with him.

just called them and they said they are going to submit this to head office for technical reaserch, figers crossed they will be ok with it.

if i have cabiet, tank, water and all other equipment roughly how much in kg do you think it will be.
tank holds 600litres

I would definitely have them look into it :good:

Remember you have to include the additional weight of substrate the cabinet its on, filter canister and its liquid volume etc but this site is quite good for conversions

http://www.convert-m...t/weight2volume

As you can see 600 litres is: 600kg or 1323 US lbs do not know if you are US or not? about 0.6 tonnes

Iam on the first floor also, newish build, brought it new a few years ago and saw before we moved in they had solid concrete walla and floors,so was a major bargain, iam looking at an 8/2/2 now i have a 5/2/2...I hope as its a new build they seem more often than not, well here anyway to inject concrete up and into the floor and walls...

fingers crossed for you

Not sure if they build the same over there as they do over here, but in the US, on the first floor (if there is no basement); the first floor is usually concrete. This is what I have at work and in my dorm!

How rubbish is this........

The apartment people just called to say they have had an engieer chaeck the floor out and he has said that the max weight load is 1.5kn m2????

What does this mean???

Personally I do not think your tank will fall through the floor. This is just a basic number for residential buildings, and if my house is the same, than my tank would of fell through a year ago, lol.

I have over 1000 pounds of tanks in one spot on the second story in my house, and all that is holding tanks up are 2"x6" trusses, which if you look at them do not seem that strong. lol

I know your tank will be fine. I mean, how are you suppose to put a bed up with only 1.5kn/m2?
