I don't really fancy keeping wild caught animals but whatever floats your boat.

I try to buy fish that are usually bred in aquaria so it doesn't affect there habitat and ecosystem... now i know 3 or 4 fish won't make much difference... i jst think it's wrong

some people view taking animals from the wild is wrong but a lot of them forget that lots of the fish you buy in lfs or order online are wild caught. im not saying all but a lot are. i personaly dont think 4 fish and 3 crawfish matters much. the only prob is that the crawfish will eat the fish and you dont know what kind of fish, how big they get, what they eat, the water stats they prefer, what temps they prefer etc.

as far as your prob with fish from lfs: they could have been diseased, you didnt clean the tank properly, poor handling form lfs, etc.....lots of possiblities y. i would suggest going to all the lfs and lps near you cand taking a good look at the fish they carry. i would go once a week on different days several time to get a feel for how healthy the fish are and how well they are carred for. then i would go to the one that is the best. or you can just simply order online and you dont have to worry about that. on good tip i have learned: look for clean healthy tank that are crystal clear, little or no algea, well lit, healthy fish(no dead ones, no sigh of common disease, not flicking rubbing, inflamed gills, trouble swimming etc.), and compatiable fish that are kept together ie no guppies with sharks, or goldfish with tropicals, or huge fish like common plecs in small tank and stuff like that. also look for staff that is very knowlegable and know what they are talking about.....good questions to ask are ones that who know the answer to and see if they give the correct response...................errmmm sorry for rambiling on like this :*)
