Lady's Foal

:hyper: !!!!
That last pic is SO CRAZY CUTE!!!!!!!!

I know SA, that's one of my favorite things.

Synirr - Aww, thank you! I'm having so much trouble deciding which one to enter between those two. :(

The last pic is lovely. Cant wait to see the other foals as they come along.

Foals are SO much work though. Better just to look at them. especially the big ones. I was mom to an orphan colt last year. He was like a puppy, a puppy that weighed more than me and could kick me in the head ;)

They are great Fun though.I looked after a arab mare while her owners where working abroad and she had her leopard spotted colt at mine, a few years ago. They where with me for 18 months and he was so much fun and was 15.3 at 12 months old.I really missed them when they went home even though i have a 16.2 mare and a 32" shetland of my own

OK..big strapping 6 ft male mod at TFF melting and cooing. Just a beautiful animal. Congrats Anna. Lucky it's not me.....I'd be hangin' out in the barn all day. Pardon me for being lacking in the knowledge of horses, but, is the mother very protective, i.e., is it safe to approach the foal when the mother is around? SH

Hehe...they do that to ya, SH. I'd be hanging out with them all day too, if I could!

Yes, the mother is protective. Moreso with the other mares and foals, instead of humans though. It depends on the mother, really. Some are little stinkers about their foals, while others are like "meh..kid can fend for itself". But for the most part, they are used to humans and fine with us and their babies.

foals are fun. i wish i knew more about dealing with them, but when i was working with "my" babies i was the only person in the barn, and the only person on the farm 24/7 with any horse knowledge (the other who knew horses had a day job, and went to bed early), and it was my first time actually seeing a foal up close. talk about diving in head first.

sometimes mother's are very protective. We had a percheron who didn't let anybody near the filly for three months. needless to say 9 months later i got to deal with a very disrespectful perch yearling. no fun. :X The lesson being always imprint your horses (and don't fall for "breeding your mare will settle her down" -lol-).

Anastasia, is this your regular business? I heard minis are really big (no pun intended) right now and was a little surprised. I never thought they were so popular.

Don't I wish! Nope, just a hobby! :) They are becoming more popular, because there are Mini shows starting with all the same events as big horses, except for riding of course. Plus they cost less, and are easier to deal with since everything is on a smaller scale.

Anymore foals arrived yet???? gagging for more piccies
