Kribensis

Definitely in pairs. They will breed non stop. If you had a pair with an extra male or female, it would surely be killed.
And in saying that, if the male or female feels their partner is a threat to the fry, they will kill them. I lost my female to that reason.

Other then that, they're a great fish! Beautiful colours. Very inquisitive. What tank are you looking to put them in?

Depends on many factors, including tank size and tankmates.

If housed in <4-foot tank with tankmates smaller and less robust than themselves, a single male would make a colourful addition without causing too much havok if added last to the tank.

If placed with typically peaceful but hardy fish at least as big as the Kribs, in a roomy tank (4-foot min), a pair can work well and hopefully not kill off tankmates when they have fry.

I am considering a pair of them in my 200L as I recently lost my bolivian rams

and I love dwarf cichlids.

I have fairly robust tank mates.....

Bristlenose plecos
Bleeding heart tetras
angelfish
three lined cories (Maybe not so robust!)
zebra loaches
Kuhli Loaches

Do you think a pair would be fine with those tank mates?  I know of people with tanks smaller than mine that keep them in pairs in communities....

Apistogramma definitely I would say yes, but kribs? Could be hit and miss...

Tek oot.

Do Apistogrammas breed the same as kribs...as in do they protect their young?

I would not risk a Krib pair with corydora (possibly mature related Brochis) or "Kuhli" Loaches (I say "Kuhli" because what most think of as that species are often Pangio semicinta, not Pangio kuhli), adult Zebra Loaches would probably be ok as would the Bleeding Hearts, Angelfish, BN Plec.

Kribs are a bit like livebearers of the dwarf cichlid world, its a case of when not if a sexed pair breed. And while most/all cichlids do protect their fry to some degree, more fragile fish would stand far more chance with Apistogramma/Laetacara/Keyholes than with African Kribs or Steatocranus (I've lost adult Gonden WOnder Killifish and Humphead Glassfish amongst others to breeding Lionhead Cichlids in a 4-footer that were only ~18 months old and not fully grown at ~9/7cm)

Ok...would Apistogrammas be ok with cories and kuhlis?

It is not guaranteed, but cories and kuhlis would stand far more chance IMO with South American dwarves like Apistos.

I have Corydoras panda with Apisto Agassizi and they are fine.

Tek oot.

Thanks!

Generally speaking, is that type of apisto easy to find?

What about Apistograma cacatuoides?

Agassizi, Cacatuoides, macmasteri, all pretty common.

Not sure what a pair would do but my female krib doesnt take any notice of my cories but sometimes she chases away my bleeding heart tetra but only once every now and then. I would like to get her a mate but I like yourself am not sure what they would be like to my other fish, so she is staying single for the time being.

Ok, thank you

I am planning on breeding my bristlenoses, so would it be too much to have 2 breeding pairs of different species in the same tank?
