Sorry for hijacking but how big are the fry once they're 'released' from the protection of their parents? I want to put a pair in my 40 gallon setup (containing platies), but don't actually want to keep any fry that may come my way; I'd rather just keep the pair and have any fry 'naturally' eaten as it were.

Well, it can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. It depends on how long the parents want to take care of them before they want to breed again.

cud someone help me out with the fish shop question? please?

small privately run stores might buy them from you, although IMO most will only offer to take them off your hands for nothing in return.
chain stores won't be interested in buying fish although the odd store may take 1 batch of you, again for nothing in return.

would you reccommend selling them separately? how many baby kribs survive in the average krib batch?

Because, if you dont, your being a irresponsible breeder. If the fish has a deformed tail, cull it. Unless you are going ot keep it, selling it would be bad. The genes giving it the deformed tail can pass on, and it may produce more like that, flooding the hobby with deformed fish. Also, the tail may be bad for the fish. It may have swimming problems, causing it to be bullied. This is the same thing with Deformed gill plates, mouthes ect. Or if it grows really slow.

Females will bend their body into a U shape trying to show off their bellies. The males will usually stick all their fins out and stay still, and let the female check them out.
