Released them in my main tank on saturday 02/12/06 and by sunday she spawned, I was still placing a roof on the slate cave saturday evening and they were in there checking it out totally oblivious to my hands right next to them.

They are so protective of the eggs and she constantly fans them its such a pleasure to watch, although i doubt the fry will be succesfull in the main tank.

Here's a small vid:

thats awesome dude, i just got myself a pair and man are they great, i expect they will also spawn as they are acting very friendly. nice fish too man

Awsome video man. I really like you female, she looks like mine. The male looks awsome too. And know they will never stop defending their fry/eggs until they lay another batch.

Is it normal for these to have TWO caves they have fry in the one pictured in the vid, but she also spends alot of time in a cave they have dug under a planted lava rock and seems to pop back and forth between the two. Ive been reading up on them but nothing points toward this.

It is only natural. They often move their fry to protect them and confuse preditors( spelled wrong). They will be fine.

UPDATE:

Male watches over Female with fry (must be around 50 of the blighters):

Hi Kev,
There must be something in the water as My kribs spawned and are out with the fry in the last week. How are you feeding them? Mine have been picking at the plants and decor but I've started off some brine shrimp to keep them going.

How are things up north? I'm from Newcastle originaly but had to move down here with the job.

Cheers

Hi there they are also feeding from plants but the parents are also picking up bits of flake and algae tabs, then munching and spitting them back out at the fry to eat.. Fantastic watching them and i honestly feel they will be ok as nothing in the tank is any match for the parents.

ps:
Its fine up here but i pitty youngsters starting out, as you know our industry is screwed. Local councils feel its more vital to erect stupid works of art (angel of the north) and other arty crap than concentrate on putting manufacturing back on the tyne and wear..

Well she made her fist fatal mistake :( mum took her fry mid water today whilst dad was feeding elsewhere then decided to chase the shoal of cardinals that wernt bothering anything leaving the little ones alone for a second to long... all were ate by the gourami's and clowns

Both parents then spent the next hour searching for them.

well thats a shame, i had eggs and they seemed to disapear a few at a time and the kribs guareded the cave like no others, then all the eggs were gone and they still guarded the cave. now both male and female are out and swimming and shes showing to him again sometimes, im assuming the eggs didnt make it :(

Awwwww!!!!!! That is too bad. Maybe next time she will know better, but if they made it that far the next batch is only going to make it even longer. Well at least that is how it worked out for me.

Kev sorry to here about they fry :( . I had 20 or so on Tuesday afternoon but there were only 8 by the evening I suspect they had got too bold and the black phantoms took a few

Hope they spawn again soon

Cheers

they are at it as we speak, the females colours are fantastic and she keeps blocking the males path side on whilst flicking his nose with her tail..
