Fish Fanatic
I found my kribensis pulcher male guarding a coconut cave that I have placed in their tank a month earlier. He had built up a wall barrier just in front of the cave entrance and was shown followed out by the female, whos red belly was brighter than ever.
Below is a picture of the cave set up in my tank:
Here is a shot of my male Krib:
Here is a shot of my female Krib (with bright red belly indicating she is ready to mate):
After watching the kribs disappear into their cave the male could be seen guarding the entrance:
They then proceeded to lay around 50 eggs on the back wall of the cave however these eggs disappeared within the next hour and, due to the size of the female, should be replaced soon! The disappearance is odd because the kribs were the only fish in that part of the tank at the time and therefore I have a theory that the eggs were not fertilized and therefore were eaten by the parents. This will be the 3rd time the couple have laid eggs, and their 2nd time (hopefully) that these fry will survive the first week!
