Kovu - Long Hair Rescue Kitty!

ok, he used to but he barly coughs, i mean when he eats his food he tends to rush it and that will make him cough, he does not sneeze alot at all anymore, but if i was to say how much a day? well 5 tops, no discharge from his eyes or nose

sounds like this kitty is JUST like the kitty we just "rescued". he showed up SKIN AND BONES at our back door(ive never seen such a skinny cat-was actually hard to look at him/pet him for his bones were so sticking out-even his vertebrae:(.he had mild resp. infection. has since gone. took him about 2 months or so to get over it. really, just keep an eye on the little guy. sounds pretty well to me tho with no doscharge around his eyes, and particularly nose. my rescue kitty also inhales his food which causes him to cough. but he is starting to slow down while he eats and doesnt really cough while eating anymore. you guy seems to just be recovering from "stray-dom". lucky fella!now that he is getting proper nutrition he will get over it (as now his immune system is probably so much better off. viruses take time and some are harder to "kick" than others- just like colds in humans.
good luck with him hes very cute!
cheers

ah i see, well he was pretty hard to pet when we got him aswell, the only thing now is to get him some mints! no im kidding but his breath stinks! to be honest it smells at abit like poo  funny you should say 2 months as it must be pushing that now, thanks for you help :hyper:

is he friendly enough to let you check in his mouth? he could have an absess or something actually STUCK in there. god knows what he was eating as a stray and maybe a bone or something is lodged (may also be why he is "swallowing a lump" as hes trying to get rid of whatever is in there.)
my aunt had a dog that got a piece of wood in the rood of his mouth (like a big sliver) went unnoticed for a while until his breath became HORRID. worth checking in his mouth. even if it is a 2-man job and you have to wrap him in a towel should he decide to scratch you. he will likely hate you for a few hours after, but i suggest really checking in his mouth for any abscesses or foreign body that may be lodged in there.
cheers

got it, will update when i do it (of to do it now but wether i can is anouther story lol)

just had alook, cannot see anything and his gums and teeth are very clean

dont feel badly about using his scruff to control him should he want to attack. im terrified of my new guy  hes got some seriously big teeth and claws. not the most "handleable" guy. sweet otherwise tho. takes 2 people to give him pills (he needed them when we got him).
id wrap your guy up nice and tight in a towel and hold him down by the scruff (sounds harsh but actually makes them relax-like a mother cat carrying her babies). then have a good check inside. might take 2 people.
cheers

anyone who claims a means tested benafit such as housing, council tax, or income support should be able to get vouchers from the PDSA for free or subsidised treatment
phone local vets to see if they operate the scheme
regards scot :)

ok guys a little update on kovu, took him to the vet today to get him properly examined again, he is fine, but just to be on the safe side ive been given some worming tablets as the vet thinks he may have worms, he also got an injection and a antibiotic tablet to takle some flamation in his tummy, im not 100% what the vet was going on about but ive been reasured that he will be ok so im a happy chappy and it only cost £38 for the lot! very impressed with my local vets indeed :good:

excellent! always good to worm new kitties. might be the cause of his stinky breath too! all excellent news. he's cute )
cheers

so, as some may know kovu went through a real ruff patch in his early life, but now after a good month or so of battling everything thrown at him he is in tip top condition and really turning into a wonderful looking long hair'd cat :) so heres a few updated pictures,
