such a little loner! he looks like he has a proper mane when he walks about lol, however when we first got him we honestly thought he was going to die, the poor little feller decided that sleeping in a trucks plough would be a good idea  luckily the guys over there know to check em before they start using them :good: so home came this little feller, he was pretty much skin and bone you could really feel his backbone...so horrible he slept all day and couldnt poo for a week, we got him checked over and was told there was not alot that could be done but he had worms however due to the age (this was a few months back) he couldnt have the tabs for a while, but now 3 weeks ago he had his tabs and he can poo proberly (he has been strugling to) and hes become a little fatty  heres some more pics of the lil guy!

all the other cats are cool with him except pixie...she has a issue with him for some odd reason lol, i will try get a better picture again soon :)

He's adorable... I thought i'd be the only one i'd ever speak to to have a cat called Kovu (I have his sister, Vitani, too). Great minds think alike clearly ;)

He looks so healthy now, well done you :good: Pic 2 for POTM :fun:

Sooo cute. I especially like the pictures with his back legs stuck in the air. He reminds me of the cat my family had when I was a kid.

should see him when he is laid on his back, he looks massive lol

PMSL my cats do that - pic 3 for POTM imo.

We have Pic2 nominated by Silverrabbit and Pic3 nominated by Haych!....

I'm going to second Pic 3, so this is the one that'll be entered in January 2010 POTM competition.... Congrats Razer!!... I'll move it accross for you.

lol, everything aside ive a problem............

kova has had a breathing issue since we got him, he has seen a vet and we have been told it should go away, however he has it stil but i think it may be worse, he has really bad breath and well when he trys to meow you can barly hear him! there is times when he can make a decent loud meow but not recently, anyway he seems to snore...really loud (sleeps in my room now) he can go loo properly and so on and that all looks normal but im really worried about this, ive got to get him to teh vet asap but its getting teh money together first,

one other thing, its as if he trys to swallow a lump every now any then, anybody heard of that before?? really dont want this to be anything more then just a chesty cold :(

do you qualify for help from the PDSA?

He could just be a raspy cat - and age dependant could be many things for his bad breath.

Old age = rotting teeth
kitten = teething
wet food diet = rotting / bad teeth

the list is endless I'm afraid

I hope he is ok though

ooo i didnt even know that the PDSA could me, have you a link to somewhere where i can find out if i can get help?

some more of him...

the good ol' tounge shot lol cannot beat it!

how long have you had him?
strays are quite prone to upper respiratory tract infections. they are viral so no meds will "cure" it. any discharge from his nose or eyes? coughing or excessive sneezing? just some things to look for. being in a warm environment with good food and it will clear on its own (As the vet said) depending on how sick he was when you got him (Seems like he was very malnourished by your description) could take a while-even several months to absolutely clear). also, likely where his "lump swallowing" is stemming from-phlegm in his respiratory tract that he is trying to swallow-not a nice picture but the reality.
as for his snoring-i have a cat that snores. its cute. consequently that same cat ALSO has the wimpiest meow youve ever heard. every cat is different in that respect (same with purring-some are loud, others you can barely tell they are even purring).
and as Haych mentioned bad breath can be from any number of things. most likely from all the "junk" he was eating before. certain food (especially wet foods) or meds can make smelly breath. also just plain bad teeth (does he have lots of tartar buildup around the gum-line? usually older cats have this, but id imagine strays of any age can get bad teeth simply from their poor diet.
just be patient and his respiratory problems will most likely go away. or it could be genetic or perhaps an old injury. time will tell. he certainly is a handsome man :)
cheers

wow thanks for the intensive info, but what does "stemming from-phlegm in his respiratory tract" mean? sorry...

like humans when they get a chest-cold. we cough up yucky phlegm. hes likely just trying to "gulp" the mucus down as it comes up from his respiratory tract ('cause they dont spit it out like people)
could you tell me if he is coughing or sneezing a lot. or if there is discharge from his eyes or nose.
cheers
