How do you know if they are a male or female?

How do you know if they are a male or female?

you look between their legs :p more seriously, if you look at a newborn kitten's bottom you'll see two "spots". one of them is shaped like * and is the anus. if the other one is shaped like |, then it's a girl kitten. if the other hole is shaped like o, then it's a boy kitten.

the easiest way to sex a kitten is just to wait until their a few weeks old (~6) and look for testicles. since kittens should not be separated from their mother before 8 weeks anyways, looking for testicles will probably be your best bet.

i'm not going to explain what testicles are

Betcha $100 Wookie is a female. Why am I so confident? Tortoise-shell coloring, which Wookie has, is a sex-linked trait. Nearly all tortoise-shell and calico cats are female. The rare male that is born with this coloration is usually sterile. Other fun "generalizations" about coloring. Orange tabbies are supposedly the most shall we say "assertive" and are usually male, though females can exist. I had one once, she was a royal b****! Tuxedo cats (mostly black, a little white) are supposedly mischevious while mostly white cats with black are supposedly sweet. Tortoiseshells, calicos, and black cats tend to be more sweet-natured, while tabbies tend to be more "assertive". White cats are the most docile of all. Of course, this is all heresay and I don't know? Have people done legitimate scientific studies on this? I don't know. But like guessing a person's personality through the food they prefer or through their favorite colour, like you find in all the fashion magazines, it is kind of fun

Great looking pair of kittens and thanks for the picture. This is basically a future shot of Belle and Buckwheat, two 4-week-old kittens I'm currently fostering. My sister thinks they are a bit fugly right now, and your photo shows two lovely cats, so my confidence about Belle and Buckwheat have shot way, way up!

llj

certainly right for our little one, she's got a serious permanenet case of naughty big eye :shifty:

those kittens are absolutely beautiful, love wookie

We found a wild mom with 6 babye kittens, i am guessing about 4 weeks. Animal control is comming soon to trap them.

Lovely kittens :)

(And on the subject of Torties... friends of ours had an Male Maine Coon who was tortie - number of times at cat shows they got told off for bringing a female up to be judged instead of a male or entering in the wrong class etc.... very funny watching experienced judges lift the tail check then have to back track on their words...)

Those are beautiful little kittens.

My tuxedo cat is a fat lazy lump. But he does quite often get into anything his clever little paws can open.

My black cat loves everyone on sight, if you have a lap, he'll be there.

IME I've found male cats to be much more personable than females.
