I have to go for now, will add more later on when i have some time.

can't wait to see it completed. What are you stocking it with? with a tank that size i'd like to see a nice madagascar lace in there

So for stocking purposes, i have already setup a 10 gallon tank, and i need to move my fishes into the new tank.
As of now, I have 1 betta and 2 platys in there. I am monitoring the lvls daily and making sure the cycling process goes accordingly.

this is the stock that will be moving.
3 black neon tetras
and my corycat.

I have a betta in the new 10 gallon that i brought home from work.
and an oto and 5 amano (sp) shrimp and 2 CRS.

Eventually, i will have 2 DP's, and thats as far as i have gotten at this point. I agree that it would look nice in there
i am shooting for dwarf hairgrass so far. I am still learning all the plant types...
i will take any and all suggestions...

No, just poorly written. I have to let the tank finish its cycle and then move some fish around so i get them into a good home.
Most posts that i have read state: otos and maybe shrimp..
But at some point i want to get some. Just have to make room accordingly...
sorry for confusion.

got my black flourite, setting it up now!!
Now i am looking for plants and decor..

OK, so i got some basic done up to this point.
Here are some pics..

I added this light fixture...

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754545
Triple Tube Fluorescent Light Strips

The bulbs are 32W each @ 8K.
So i replaced with these.

Front - GE 5765K CRI91 - $9.98

Centre - Sylvania 4100K CRI 85 - $7.43

Rear - Philips 6500K CRI 86 - $6.99

to get a better visual effect.
I am thinking of adding one more tube light, but not sure if i should

I am shooting for a decently planted tank.
But i am sure that WPG are low..around 1.3

Maybe it's the picture but it looks bright enough to me :)

Colour combination looks good too. What does it look like in real life?

With the filter Have you got an external and a hob? what is the centre pipe?

What I would do is change the spraybar positioning so that is 1inch below the water level and on the left hand side pushing the water to the right hand side. Put the inlet in the left rear corner. That should push the water the length of the tank.

As a rule you should always have the inlet and outlet in the same area so that you are pulling dirty water out from the bottom whilst the spraybar/outlet is pushing clean water away from the inlet.

You do need lots more plants in there though :)

Keep us updated

I have been busy adding some new plants to the tank.
here are some updated pics.
I have added DIY Co2 which is the setup in the middle.
for the plants, I have some moneywart, bleheri, and some others I dont know the name of.
I found one of those moss balls at the LFS.
And my carpet of riccia.
I changed the direction of the circulation so that it goes across the top and circulates to the bottom.
I will need to drill holes in the stand in order to move the inlet and outlet around. This is the best for now...

How is the new 'flow' pattern working? Are the CO2 bubbles being pushed around well?

AC

is that the co2 line running to the intake of a hob, or just some kind of homemade diffuser?

To answer both of your questions.
The flow pattern is now much better than it was.
The water flows across the top about 1 inch underneath the surface and flows down and around to the bottom and back to be a complete cycle. All the Co2 bubbles that get sucked through the HOB filter i have in there, are indeed getting kept under the surface longer for better diffusion. On top of the fact that my betta and his little bubble nest help keep them in as well.
still need more plants though

My female platy died tonight.
She was head down in the gravel when i got home from work.
she could barely swim, and always ended up upside down.
Then I was caring for her and she spit up some nasty white stuff and died within 20 seconds.
I am not sure why she died, none of the other fish show any evidence of issues.
She was fine last night and no changes have been made to the aquarium.
I have done my water changes and everything correctly.

But i can say that I think she was pregnant.
She had a batch of fry on nov 14 and has remained huge ever since.
The LFS guy and i seem to agree (i just hope) that it was complications of the pregnancy.
I buried her and said a little prayer.

Rest in Peace
Wilma

One of my black Corys died a few months back whilst in the process of laying eggs. Must've got stuck and had problems causing the death :(

These things happen though. Sorry for your loss
