Hey,
i have a recent infestation of ramshorn snails and i think this is just the excuse i need to get some loachs
will khuli's eat snails? if not then do you know any other small snail eating loachs (3 inch max

check out the fish species index and look some up, im not sure that kuhlis eat many snails cuz of their small size..

They may eat baby ones but I think adult ones will be to big for them.

Not sure about other loaches, i've not kept any but I can recommend the snail eating snail - clea helena, mine have eaten most of my ramshorns and a lot of my other snails too, and they aren't taking up space I could be using for fish :D

loaches are known for eating snails (though ive not had any to prove it) so its prolly worth a shot.

Kuhlis will not have much of an effect against ramshorns. Among kuhli-like loaches, V.Maassi seems the best, but in my tank they do not kill the snail fast enough to slow the population growth.

Effective 3" snail-eating loaches include B.Striata, A.Botia, Y.Sidthimunki and Sinibotia's.

I would have to agree that the yoyo does a great job on snail control, although, they seem to like them a certain size before eating them. Dont want to waste so much energy on the really small ones I guess. They may get larger though, about 4" or so

I had the same problem in my tank about 2 years ago, i introduced 3 zebra loaches and after a few days no more snails on tank walls, the loaches are still there today and i still have no snail problem. As well as eating the snails they are very interesting fish to watch, mine took about 6 months to settle in properly mind, i always see them out and about now even with the lights on.

Cheers Gordon
