Kent Anyone?

Hi all
I am a newbie to the site today and live in Swanley, Birchwood Aquatics is just around the corner and would recomend these guys to anyone, Maidenhead Aquatics at Dartford 10 mins away plus a few others within a 15 minute drive. If I feel like a good day out Wholesale Tropicals in Bethnal Green is worth the 30 min drive. Always up for a look at a different shop!!!
Spoilt for choice here really.

Hi Dave,
Just saw your post I am in Swanley, use Birchwood, living reef in dartford and maidenhead aquatics in Hawley,
Regards,
Jon (joncairns)

wow, i haven't checked this post since i put it up, seems there is still some life in kent! well, i'm in folkestone and i mostly use Ark in canters, or sometimes give swallow a visit. i'm a bit too particular to visit shops very often though as i'm always after something specific so i need to do a bit of searching to find what i want.

anyway, i hope all you kentish folk are doing good

surrey here, but might be going to kent uni, so will have to learn some of the good shops around the medway area.

I am in Gravesend in Kent, I use Swallow Aquatics, and ventured out to HeaverTropics the otherday, got a brilliant freshwater section! But not so much on the marine side of things!

I'm the Kent side of SE london.

My local small fish shop is Castle aquatics in Eltham (small and family run, but very good quality) and Aquacadabra in Barnehurst is pretty good too.

I haven't checked out any of the ones round bromley - I'll look into those!

hey im from ashford.
all i have is pets at home, bybrook barn and swallow aquatics and i prefer swallow aquatics out of them all.
the pets at home in ashford are s**t!!!

Im in Tunbridge Wells, there are a few around here, one just down the road, one is Westerham, but the best one locally is Maidenhead Aquatics near Sevenoaks.

Nice to meet you all, didn't realise there were so many so near...

Hey,

Wildwoods have the female Nannacara I've been after, but postage is £12 with a £6 extra charge if your order is under £35 total (My fish is about £6). I don't particularly want to order anything else from them, so I was wondering if anyone from the SE london/bromley area wanted to go in on an order with me to share postage costs? I'm in Lee, SE12.

Drop me a note if interested.

Cheers,
Alex.

I'm not far off. Just outside Eastbourne. I haven't found any LFS that have amazed me yet. 1 has disgusted me, 2/3 haven't been great and 2 were passable (though one of those 2 was in Hastings so not as near as I'd like).

what was the name of the place in hastings?

I can't think, it was actually in St Leonards......do you know it? I quite liked it. I prob would have used it had they been closer but I found one in Eastbourne.

Swanley here too.
personally Birchwood aquatics are a miss as they sell dyed fish and parrot cichlids but each to their own.

the best near here are Heaver aquatics (ash) and aylesford aquatics (aylesford) :good:

im knew here today and starting out a tropical tank...have been to shop in eltham and also the petsathome in crayford

Old thread I know, but I just found it!

I'm in Kent - Herne Bay - and we have a fairly good LFS called Bay Aquatics in Mortimer Street. Not a massive place but if they don't have what you want they try their very hardest to order it in for you. Everything gets quarantined, too, and they are very strict on this and won't sell anything from a quarantine tank no matter how much you want it LOL. Run by Chris & Theresa and a few other staff.

I like the way that if you ask them a question that they're unsure about, they go to their books and look it up rather than wild guessing.

They sell all the usual aquatic supplies, plants, some inverts, often unusual or rare little finds, too.

If you do a google search, you will find their website and you can always ring to enquire about anything.

Regards, Athena
