Keeping Betta Frys Tank Clean

I have heard of people using other kind of fish in the spawning tanks.

I know f250 uses babie pigmey cories I think...

I wanna know if this is possible...and if it is possible what can I use?

I was seeing a page it say its uses Chinese Algea eaters But I dont think ill trust those with fry

Im thinking of buying a few Pigmys for my next spawning.

Do u think this ill be a good idea? or not?

I would suggest against the chinese algae eaters, they often will become aggressive and will eat the fry (I know of one breeder who says he has great success with them, but I know more who have tried them and failed miserably). I personally use Ramshorn snails, they are the greatest little cleaners and their poop is very easy to vacuum up. Pygmy cories would probably be fine, I got some once, but all but 1 died within a week, the last one survived a few months but eventually died as well. They are the cutest little things though

I had heard using a ghost shrimp was good so I'm using one now... He doesn't touch the fry at all. Can't really tell how well he's working though since I'm cleaning the tank two times a day now... He did a good job getting rid of excess BBS when I was using that tho, lol.

alge eaters will eat ur babys, their fine with guppy fry but anything smaller will be toast. pigmy cories sounds like a good idea but u may need about 2 or 3 to keep them happy so ur tank is going to hafta be atleast 30g+. they will eat resting fry thogh, if ur fish are on the bottom juts chillin out they will be lunch, same goes for the eggs. ramshorn snails are great, had some myself that rid on in some plants but i dont think iv got 2 many left thogh, they will eat the eggs but the fry are safe as long as they move out of the way when the snail is moveing throgh. on opsion that sounds a little bit strange is guppy fry, i have heard of breeders useing them to clean up the bottom. the are great scavangers but they do grow faster that ur betta fry so u gotta be careful wit them. thats all i know for now, for me im probabaly going to be useing ghost shrimps but if not then ill be sucking stuf off the bottom with a hose. good luck

I use one dwarf cory in each fry tank. I wait for 1 week to put it in the tank. This lets the fry get used to feeding. I also use male corys, as they are smaller. Big reasons for the corys is they eat the excess food, and they keep the fry off of the bottom of the tank. When I transfer the fry to my growout, I transfer the cory with them.

Why would using pygmy cories require such a large tank? They're tiny!

I have used snails and newly hatched Neocaridina shrimps in my baby tanks as cleaners. They have been really great. Now I don't have any and it really is much harder to keep the bottom clean.
