Juwel Trigon Marine

Hey,

I have 50kg in mine which is over what you would minimally need, but as you can see in the pics it fills it out really well, I have made lots of caves and tunnel and there is a big centre area for free swimming.

If you have the 350 not 190 like me I would recommend you got 50kg, as 25kg may look bleak in your tank. Although it all depends on money I got all mine 2nd hand for £200.00 including 2 clown fish :hey:

If your LFS sale is on over 2 days, maybe get 25kg one day, see what it looks like in the tank, and then you can go back the next day if needed and pick more bits. Very useful as you can work out what sizes peices you need to get then on the 2nd trip.

Yer true, well also remember hes got to cycle the tank aswell ;)

i recieved my pump today so i was able to set my sump up at last, i did it tonight because someone has offered me some live rock which i am picking up tommoro. it all seems to be working ok. i still need to put some live sand and a bit of live rock in the sump. when i do have the tank up and running do i leave the light on above the sump on all the time? and how long should the light above the main tank be left on during the day? heres some pictures

Hi there

You'll only need the tank main lights of for 10-12 hours a day. As for the sump > If you have LS and LR (live sand and rock) you don't nessaseraly need a light but you could have one on a reverse cycle to the main tank to stop the pH fulctuating. Only when you have algeas it there would you neeed the light on 24H's to stop it going sexual and trying to reporduce. This will cause a DOC spike and if the skimmer isn't up to the job my cause the NO2/3, NH3/4 and PO4 the raise.

Agreed, but if you use Chaetomorpha you dont have to worry about it going sexual ;)

i have got 3 2000lph powerheads coming tommoro, and im not sure where to place them, can anyone give me some advice bearing in mind that the live rock will be built up both sides soon so the powerheads will be behind the live rock. i will be getting a wave maker soon aswell. thanks

Tank looks 8)

Looks like it's all going well. The only point I would mention is it may be worth putting a solid board beneath the sump as it looks to be raised up by 3 support bars. Although it does not hold a large volume of water there is always the chance of preassure points causing it to crack and IMO any chance that can be prevented is a wise move.

went to my lfs today and got myself a few corals and 2 clownfish. the anemone isnt doing as good as the others and i was told that i havnt got enough light in my tank so i might have to take it back tommoro. i still need to get some more live rock to build the back up and cover the powerheads but the rock at my lfs was rubish.anyway heres some pictures.

Yeah, your tank is not ready for a nem and more importantly it is probably not ready for a giant goniopora. Goniopora's captive success rate is VERY low. We're talking like 20% here. They need high light and constant feedings of phytoplankton and/or cyclopeeze if they are to survive. I'd take that one back too

my tank is started to get a bit of algy clinging on the rocks where the powerheads are pointing at the moment. can i add 2 regal tangs yet? my water readings are all fine. also my 2 clownfish stay in the same corner all the time, do you think my water flow might be to high for them?
