Juwel Rekord 96 Reef Setup

I have just found the following overtank luminaire on EBay.
Overtank Luminaire
There would be an overhang of approx 5cm each side with this unit. Would this cause any problems? Is there any way to mask over the parts of the light that are overhanging?

This seems very cheap and would mean that I could just remove my existing hood. I would really appreciate some advice as to whether this luminaire unit would be suitable for my planned reef setup.

That would probably only be sufficient for soft corals and maybe some of your hardier LPS like zoo's. Those are pretty low wattage T5s and would have a somewhat tough time punching through your water. Power Compacts (PCs) would allow you to keep more LPS and PERHAPS an SPS if it was at the top of the tank. PCs are essentially twin-tube T5s with way more wattage, 96W per bulb for 3 footers

Well I'm definitely going to buy some T5 power compacts now as Mantis147 has shown me some great pics on how he installed them into his existing hood. They are much cheaper than the Arcadia Luminaire that I was originally looking to buy!

I just need to start saving for some cured live rock. There is a great sw lfs just down the road from me that currently has Madagascan lr at £9.95/kg.

Where do you live?

Got mine for £7.50/kg
I live in Whitley Bay, Newcastle, UK. I wonder whether I could haggle down the price with my LFS if I bought it all in bulk?

Can I add LR to my tank bit by bit over time or would this cause problems?
