Hi,

My Juwel Rio 125 Light bulb (590mm) has recently started to have problems. When i turn the lights on, both light up for a few seconds then go off.

I have checked the bulbs and one seems to have a loose end, which is wobbly.

Just wondering if this is a common problem which is fixable, as it works for a few seconds so i do not see how it cannot be repaired.

a new bulb is £26 which i think is rediculous, considering the tank was £150 new including the whole set up. so it would be nice to avoid having to purchase one.

dont buy juwel bulbs...buy some from lamp specs. are they T5's?

first off look underneath the unit...and tell me what colour sticker it has underneath if its red its bad...take it back and get it replaced...if its blue it shouldnt have failed but has got a dodgy starter and needs replacing...take it back and get it replaced.

red = china
blue = germany

Isn't it a good idea to replace your tubes anyway every 12-24 months, even if they ain't broken?

yes...and you can replace them for about 6 quid
thats both of them!

My Jewel RIO 240 lightbar just died.

I didn't change the bulbs for 18 months and it cooked the lightbar.

i will change then every year now!

Thankfully i remember my new one (£70) is from Germany!

..How?

And why should you change them every 12 months? The tank is approaching being 12 months old now.

on lampspecs.co.uk

because they loose their brightness and their colour temperature shifts

Hi

I'm having a similar problem with the lights on my Juwel Rio 240. They flicker on for a few seconds, then turn off. I've had the tank for a year- bought second hand.

Didn't know I had to change the tubes until they stopped working, so not changed yet...!
Is this likely to be the tube(s) or the header unit? Or is the only way to tell by replacing the tubes first?

Will these tubes be ok? http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tub...resh-Aqua-3-5FT
Mine are 25mm diameter, 1047mm long. I think they are T8?

Thanks

Sorry to bump....
Any thoughts/experience re above
