Why are heaters so crap nowadays?

Its not that, its just the new tech is twice the price, EG Hydor external heater (in-line) they are toward £40 to buy, whereas the 300W internal equivalent are no more then £20

Ooh, never heard of external heaters. Thats some food for thought

external thermostats not heaters
saves getting your hands wet

Whats the difference#?

right when i first started
in fish keeping thermostats
used to be separate from the heater
and used to clip on the outside
of the tank they had a knob on so
you could set the temperature
there was also ones that looked like
to heater but it wasn't one tube had
the thermostat in and the other
tube had the heater in and they were
connected by a wire so you could have thermostat
at one end of the tank and the heater
at the other

yeah there good them seen them they
must have some sort of fail safe on
them have they just in case the
filter stops working do they
i tell you things have changed a lot
in fish keeping since i started fish keeping
as a kid in the 70s
