Juwel Heaters

turn the heater right down
then turn it up one degree
at a time till the light comes on
then turn it one degree back and
you might find thats were it needs to be set

Erm, yeah ive tryed that and ive got it so its kinda set on 80 but im keeping a good eye on the tank, as i dont really trust it lol

heaters do have a thermostat built in
it will cut off and switch on when it
either gets to cold or to hot it will
not show up on a thermometer exactly
what you set it for unless the heater
as been compromised or is damaged
in some way

The heater is fine but im doing it with caution as i dont want to risk killing my fish :)

it will only go rogue
as i call it if it as been
damaged in someway set it
at 24 and leave it alone
and see what happens keep
an eye on the thermometer
it will only be one or two
degrees either way no messing
for about 8 hrs lol

ps what size tank is it {inches please}
and what size is the heater

The heater is 200w i think the tank is 180ltr its about 4 ft wide
When the heater is on it goes a orange color when working this is right isnt it?

yes that is right you might
see the light go and off
from time to time did you
this means that the
the thermostat is working
when the light is on it heating
up say the tank was four foot
if it is i would of said
a 300w heater would of been
better

I think its 4 ft lol not sure 3 or 4... all i know its 47 us gallons i think its 180ltrs thats all i know. and i buyed the heater with the tank in the juwel package so i thought that would have been suitable?

Is it a Juwel Rio 180? for starters, i think they are 100cm across (just over 3ft). And my 200W is fine, but its just a case of playing with the heater dial until it works

2ft 150 watt 3ft 150 to 200 watts 4 foot 300watts

how has it worked out with
the heater today has it
settled down

Why are heaters so crap nowadays? :shout:
Its not that, its just the new tech is twice the price, EG Hydor external heater (in-line) they are toward £40 to buy, whereas the 300W internal equivalent are no more then £20

when i first started keeping fish
they used to come in two parts
a heater and a thermostat you
could also buy heaters without
thermostats and buy external
thermostats and run more than
one heater off them i used to
run 4 18x10x10's of one stat
with 100watt heaters
