So ive gotten the fungus problem fixed but how long should i keep the fish quarentined b4 i put them back in the community tank? I am getting the worm invasion under control with 10% H2O changes everyday...and Ive noticed that my water clarity has degraded a bit...the water looks clouded with particles (super small)...i dont have an alkalinity test but other params are normal...I dunno...just confused...

All sounds all right. Fungus, uh two weeks minimum, maybe three, certainly you need no more than four. All the water changes are adding nutrients into the water and bacteria are blooming, so either stop the changes or allow the bacteria to bloom, they'll die in a few days.

Can you actually see the particles coz if you can it's not a bacteria bloom. That's more like milky water. If you're doing daily water changes could be that the substrate hasn't time to settle before you churn it up again with another change.

Colisa- so 2-3 weeks after i stop treatment?

Gad-why do I always make my life complicated...I hope it is just the substrate!

Thanx

so the water looks a little clearer but is still not "crystal" clear...am I just asking for to much or do i need to just clean my tank better? (I can still see small particles...almost like air bubbles suspended...in the water)

If you really want, there is an additive that you put in the water and it binds the very tiny particles so that they get trapped in the filter floss easier. Over here there's one by Interpet called Filter Aid and I'm sure that you can find something similar in the States. BTW - do you have any floss in your filter. Sometimes debris in the water is a sign that the floss need changing.

I have a peguin 125 on the tank and i use the filter cartridge that comes with it...I dont use additional floss (should I?) and i clean it every other week...(all the gunk that collects on it....gross) I alternate with a light gravel vac...(very light) and a cartridge clean....are you suggesting I should change the cartridge? Also is the filter aid stuff okay for plants and fish?? (I dont like adding chemicals unless I have to...if its a choice between slightly cloudy water thats healty and natural or clear with chems. Ill take natural!) Ok thanks...Im going to the fair now. Yeah! :D

hi Braddah - I've used one called Waste Control (bio care) - had babies in the tank and it didn't hurt them - it can cause an ammonia spike so have to be careful - they tell you on the info to use something like Cycle at the same time to prevent probs - I'd got enthusiastic and scrubbed all the algae off the back wall in my tank and it looked like my fishes were swimming in green soup :/ - tank was pretty clear by the next day
