Just Set My Tank Up *more New Pictures*

hmmm - you may not get a cycle from this batch of LR but that doesnt mean you wont get one from the next lot

The Little starfish - are the Asterina -if so I would get squishing

they look like serpent sea stars i have seen the orange crab eating them though :S lol

Maybe Brittle Stars - If so then dont worry they are fine

i noticed today when i got up that the sand as got brown kinda stuff all over it and some pink and purble bits what could this be? ive not got any live stock in there at the moment just little creatures on the live rock!

Nice tank!

I love the look of a clean new tank, where you can still see the blue background! give it 6 months and it'll be purple with any luck.

As for the sand could be cyno>See link.

anyway keepit up, we'll be waiting for more pics

The nuisance algae progression in new tanks is usually: Diatoms->Cyanobacteria->Hair Algae (byropsis)->Dinoflagellates (not very common). Blooms of diatom algae are very common within the first week to month of the new tank's life and are easily removed by just about any common snail or hermit.

sorry about the quality of pictures!
i have now got 8 turbo snails and they seem to be cleaning my glass and substrate now as i had a bit of algae break out! :D
anyways some pictures of my Anemone Crab and Ocellaris Clownfish!
my hydrometer seems to be broke its swinging up and down :S
but i got a Refractometer yesterday and its reading at 1.026 so im happy :D

I love the anemone crab. Such pretty coloring, and nice disposition. I have one in my 29 gallon tank.

I have to target feed mine though, since it's not much of a scavenger (not like a hermit crab, anyway). It has it's favorite perch, and doesn't make a real effort to get to any food that's not within a claw's reach.

Looking good,

Don't be put off by ant algae breakouts, just keep your maintanance up and it will look stunning in weeks.

Take thos cases off the seios!!, much better value for money :D

thanks for the replys! yeah the algae is a bit dishearting but im trying to control it lol :D

cummin along nicely m8. Looks like cyano is creeping up on ya ;). Do u know how i get rid of it in a matter of 3 weeks... just leave ur tank alone. only top it up dont do water changes and then it starvs itself :good: look at mine before it was coverd now look at it!

Love the crab though, funny critter. Yer take off ur sieo cases and have them like cameras but turn them upside down do they dont suck in air from the surface, it also makes the current a bit stronger ;)
