Just plain dumb

Can bettas even live for 7 years? That sounds quite exaggerated. The whole point isn't that bettas can't live in those situations, but that it's a cruel life to give a creature that is much happier with a roomier living space. The mud puddle to mud puddle thing doesn't sound right either... and even if it was, it'd be like me saying "wild dogs or wolves live outdoors and have to hunt for their own food to survive." Does that mean I toss my pet dog out to hunt for himself and live outside? Conditions "in the wild" are not necessarily ideal conditions for a pet. -_-

I've emailed the Scooby doo person, saying I did lots of research, they don't live in mud puddles and some stuff I can't remember. I'll email the other person later.

I love how they get all defensive and spew how "informed" they are and yet they are selling items that are not up to standards. The mud puddle argument is getting flipping old. I dont know about you but Im pretty sure my betta did not come from the rice fields ( feilds not puddles) of Thailand. In fact I would bet their great great great greeeeat grandparents did not either.
Its just pathetic how stupid people become when money is involved. My only hope is that almost all of the businesses on ebay, such as the tank ones will so disappear. The IRS has announced they are getting involved due to the fact that many of the personally owned businesses have not been filing their income from ebay on their yearly tax reports.
Lets see how happy they will be with their "fancy betta tanks" when the animal rights groups step up and get involved as well. Maybe they can sell them as fancy drinking cups from cell block 8 on their free time. B)

The tiny tank person is the worst. Frankly, I don't care whether other shops sell smaller tanks. 1. I don't actually think you CAN get anything smaller and 2. I will be emailing other companies in due course, and I'm not bothered about them. At the moment, I'm bothered about hers.

Psst - hey, it's a man selling them - you should hear his answering machine message. He sounds like he was born and raised in Texas and is about 70 years old. I haven't left him a message yet because I want to speak to him in person. I'm going to keep trying to get ahold of him so I can see how he responds to me when I go off.

As far as PennPlax, here is the page where they sell their miniscule betta keeping things (the same things as tinytanks):
http://www.pennplax.com/Pages/Aqua.pages..../Aqua26F.html

I contacted them about how these things are inhumane and WAAAAY too small, and all I got in return was some coupons to use when I went to the store and purchased some of their products!

Here's another eBay link of shame -
Betta Bowl

It's a gumball betta bowl that holds a whopping 24 oz. of water and doubles as your child's night light!
You know what's funny is, that's not even a gum ball machine. If you look closely, its parts consist of:

1 ivy bowl vase (available at Jo Anne's for $0.99)
1 terra cotta pot
1 terra cotta saucer
1 Scooby Doo cake top (plastic)
1 Scooby Doo decal (aka 'a sticker')

The purple hearts appear to be made out of either metallic silver marker, or nail polish, I can't quite tell.

Once upon a time, I used to work at a flower shop. In an ivy bowl that size, you can fit around 18 stems of standard size roses, 1 stem of gypsophillia baby's breath, and 2 stems of leather fern. The stems would have to be cut down to around 5" long, to attractively lay along the flute of the bowl.

I've emailed petco and petsmart (although petsmart was only about goldfish), and now I'm on to Penn-Plax. Thanks for the link bettamomma, I was going to email them before but can't remeber why I didn't....

After looking at about 20 of her auctions, both past and present, that fact became pretty obvious. :sigh: I am a crafter myself (beadwork and chainmaille jewelry) and the things that people will do to make a buck are astounding.

I'm surprised that since she "cares" for 70 bettas weekly that she isn't also breeding and offering them as part of the auction itself. :(
