I once kept a pair of these about 15 years ago but cannot remember what they were like. they were a big pair is all I remmeber

Went to my LFS today and they had four in. 2 were about 2 inches long and 2 others a fair bit smaller

I bought the two larger ones.would I be beter getting the other two and having a group of 4?

They're in a 75gallon at moment with a 6 bar distochidus I'm growing on for my bigger tank, 6 baby channa pulchra which are soon to go into a different tank

anything I should look out for these? I'll have a go of the search button now lol

never kept them though id like to, there beautiful peaceful cichlids by the sounds of it who like to be in a shoal, there of soft water so i understand,,,,just google to find out keeping info :good:

had a good look on this site and on google. as usual conflicting advice as some say just a pair others say a group. My two are just sticking together which is quite cute. I'm looking forwaard to them getting bigger

yes but apparently there good in shoals, but obviously space is a factor because they grow like oscars, if you have a big tank i would be inclined to get the other two,but thats me

i got a single one last week and only just got him feeding on pellets, they take a while to settle in, and i know people say you should keep them in a group, but singly they also do well providing you dont have aggresive fish and they have somewhere to hide cause they are very shy til they hit around 5" unless you keep them in a group.
theyre great fish though i hope you enjoy them

luckily mine have been munching frozen brine
