Just Got New Eheim 2213, Quick Question

I just received a new Eheim 2213 canister filter, and have hooked it up to my 20gl long tank. The tank has been up and running for approximately 7 months, with a penguin bio-wheel HOB filter. I am cutrrently running both filters in the tank, but I intend to remove the penguin. How long should I run both filters, to ensure that I have a good bacteria transfer to the new canister. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just put the old media into the new filter...

when i swapped my filters I squeezed the existing media into the new filter and ran it alongside for 3-4 weeks. I then switched the established one off (but didnt remove) and tested the water parameters like a lunatic for 3 days!

It helps if you can transfer some/all of the media, and if you have a planted tank.
