Just About To Get Cyclin (fishless)

Theres no hard and fast drops per gallon. Fill a 10 litre bucket add the ammonia give it a stir and wait a min or 2 then test till you get it to where you want it (4-5 ppm)

then its just a case of working out how much ammonia you need for the tank
Actually, there is a formula for working it out the amount required as long as you know the concentration. For 9.5% it comes out to something like .995 ml required to raise 5 gallon to 5ppm.

Heres how to do it for a specific tank size (the 30 gallon he is asking about)

30 gal = approx 114 liters of water

114 liters times 1000 = 114,000 ml

You need to get ammonia to 5ppm

114,000 / 1,000,000 (parts per million) x 5 = .57 ml of pure ammonia

Since the solution is only 9.5% ammonia and not pure you have to convert

.57 ml / 9.5 x 100 = 6 ml of 9.5% ammoni to raise 30 gallon to 5 ppm ammonia or 1 ml per 5 gallon.

Obviously, if the solution wasn't quite as concentrated, say 7%, it would take more.

.57 ml / 7 x 100 = 8.14 ml

Right i have just bought a heater. Wwill it be ok to attach it to the same side of the tank that my filter and air pipe is?

I assume i have to leave the top of the heater above water level

My heater is completly submerssed. It can overheat if it is above water too much, but then again i dont know what kind of filter you have, channces are it is fully water proof so fully-underwater wont hurt it.

However wait on a more experienced answer.

Its a Elite 300w Submersible.

Its got a min water level mark which is not far off from the top..

The only part of my heater which isnt submerssed is the turning-tepreture-setting-thingy.

HELP PPL

The guy at my local fish store sold me some Easy Life - Fluid Filter Medium - Conditioner - Tonic - Prophylactic.

He told me that this is all in 1 de chlorinater, ammonia etc. Is this true?

I added some to my tank yesterday, and ive just tested the Ammonia level and it is reading 0.

I must be doing something wrong i guess?

If it's EasyNeo, you're probably not doing anything wrong because it says it absorbs ammonium (the non-toxic form but doesn't mention ammonia for some reason). Throw it away and just get a dechlorinator like Prime or Stress Coat. From their spec sheet, it says it absorbs ammonium and other chemicals. You don't want anything to remove ammonia from the tank as the tank will never cycle. It also appears to say that it's a medication that eliminates harmful bacterias. If it eliminates (kills) harmful bacteria, what do you think it will do to the beneficial bacteria? Sounds to me to be one of the worst possible things you could put in a tank.

Helpppppppppp, so what do i do? do i have to empty the water out? or can i just add ammonia? and start cyclin like i should?

Water has been in the tank for 3 days now.... with filter, heater and air stone on. Do i need t add de-chlorinater?

Those people will sell you anything they want. I had those staffs in my tank and its eliminate the cycling process. Just take out and don't add anymore water and continue with your process you will be fine.

I had the ammonia remover, carborn remover, nitrate remover in my tank too but then when I found out from the readings I took it out.

I think they are all good after you have the tank going on for a while but I am not sure. I am just a new comer but do lots of research. May be I will use them again when I need it later

I still dont understand.

1.Do i need to empty out the tank and start again ?

2.Water has been in tank 3 days, do i now need to add de-chlorinater?

Chlorine will kill any benificial bacteria in your filter.
