Well as some of you will know, I have decided that I am going to try breeding an array of clowns and other marine fish species.
I have purchased a rack of tanks which consists of a stand and 3 levels of tanks.
The top level has 2 tanks, each 75litres.
The middle level has 3 tanks, each 50litres.
The bottom level is the same as level 1, with 2 75litre tanks.
Each tank is drilled and has a plastic box to go round the pipes (youll understand when you see the pics).
The water from the tanks drains down into a vat which holds about 30gallons of water. In this "sump" I will keep most of the systems live rock, the heaters, possibly a skimmer, and the return pump. The water is returned to each tank seperatly by their own taps, attached to the return pumps pipework.
Each level of tanks also has its own light unit. The stand also has only one 3 plugs as each level has its own set of 4 sockets, which lead into one plug. This means I can run 12 things, taking up only 3 sockets.
I plan on having around 50kg of live rock in this system all together. 20 of which I will be getting for free in a week, thanks to someone shutting down their marine tank.
I hope to have 4 or 5 breeding pairs of fish :
-pink skunk clowns
-black and white percs
-tank bred percs
-wild percs
-possibly a pair of bangaii cardinals.
Anyway, here are some pics of the kit just thrown in the garage.
I will take some more pics when I put it all together and get it filled.
Here is a pic of the inlet overflow pipes, pipe covers, taps and cover slides for each tank.
Here is a shot of the cover glass's
Here you can see an overflow pipe, tap and pipe cover. There is one of these for each tank.
Here is all the pipe work which takes the water from each tank to the sump.
Here is one of the 3 sets of sockets. There are 4 sockets available for each level.
This is a fitting which the return taps for each tank are attached to.
Here are the 3 light units. There is one for each tank level. Each can be plugged into a socket on its own level.
Here is a shot of the stand with all the pipe work just thrown on. Im a messy fish keeper haha
Here are the 2 75litre tanks. Each tank has a blue plastic background glewed to the outside.
Here are the tripple tanks. You can see the drilled holes in them and one with the pipe cover fitted.
Here is a front shot of the 50litre tanks.
And a front shot of the 75litres.
And just a shot of the black vat which acts as a sump.
So my plans are the get the whole thing fitted together in my house and get the water going through. I wont be using the bottom tanks until I have fry to raise in them. I will also be getting my 20kg of live rock to get the cycle going.
So here goes with another journal, and another journy!
